Ref.-book,by Frank Fish,Buried Treasure &Lost Mines,

Oh and the Dutchman said his partner Wiser had been killed in a Indian attack,
and that the shaft in his mine went down a 18 inch vein of rose quartz which was studded with pin head nuggets of gold, with beside it a three inch hanging wall of hematite quartz that was in itself about 1/3 pure gold.

I've read so many Lost Dutchman stories it's mind boggling. One standard is that Jacob Weiser, Waltz's partner was wounded in an attack by Apaches and later died of his wounds. Other than that, I have heard different descriptions of the Dutchman's deathbed confession.

One was that it was a small conical pit burrowed into the side of a hill.

another was that the mine could be found at the spot where the shadow of the tip of Weaver's Needle rests at four in the afternoon. And that it also in or near a canyon, facing west.

Another was that it was a standard shaped mine so abundant that you could pick gold up off the ground.

What I do know for certain is that Weiser did find gold. That he did murder several people to protect his mine. And that he was delirious when he died.

You decide what is true.

I think you've got the wrong impression my friend. I co-organized the Lost Dutch Hunters Rendezvous this year. I've got posts on other forums adding a lot. Feel free to search my posts if you'd like. There are things I don't like to talk about, and other things I do. I don't post a lot on this site anymore, so I believe you've just got the wrong impression about me:

CptBil-
I remember reading that post only problem was I never knew when you were coming by. If you recall I offered to buy a burger for your dog also and you said something about ONE would never do! Now if you were to extend that offer again I sure would like to join up with you and Randy any time, any place.

So far I have answered most of the 100 clues posted on another website. I have them printed up and will bring them to the mtg.

I am planning another trip into the Supers (my fourth attempt to reach what is my belief as to where "X marks the spot") as soon as the weather warms a little. There is no trail so the traveling in rather rough.

Haven't heard any more about the Hurricane Cliffs area. Any thing brewing?

I met Randy at the Lost Dutch Hunters Rendezvous this year. He took me and Cubfan64 to the mine shaft by the trailhead. I was hoping to meet you there also. Looking forward to meeting you both with or without trading any "secret" info.

ghostdog-
Don't be to hasty to judge people by what they don't do. Randy "djui5" is one of the good guys. Hope to see you next year at the Lost Dutch Hunters Rendezvous, if there is one.

To tell you the truth,
I don't have any or very little, interest in The LDM ...
Espesically since it was made into a wilderness area!
But!
At the same time, when I get to Arizona, this coming March,
I just may decide to go and check on and copy the information
Just in case!
Heck!
I may then fly over the area and see what the info shows!

Perhaps if your habit of traveling ARMED TO THE TEETH were to be passed up, you might find more potential "partners".  Then again, a great many treasure hunters are not looking for any partners, after all remember what Walter Huston said in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"...

"...then too having a partner can be dangerous, murders always lurking around"

(haha not sure if my memory of the quote is accurate, but you get the gist of it)

Which brings us back to the idea of traveling with a load of guns on you, so to protect against potential murdering partners, which the fact of your being so heavily armed and loaded for bear tending to scare off potential partners etc makes for sort of a vicious circle!   Roll Eyes Shocked Grin Cheesy ;)  If I were you Cptbil, I would be pleased that you GOT no "takers" since what you might have got is NOT what you had in mind!  Shocked Grin Cheesy ;)

After all, do we REALLY know whom we are talking with here on this forum, over the internet?  I might be a vicious serial killer, more than happy to kill someone in cold blood in order to obtain the secret to finding a lost treasure - don't you suppose that such a person would 'talk' in the forums just as nicely and gentlemanly as possible, so as to lull away any potential suspicions?   I am not pointing fingers here (you already know whom I am talking about, heh heh Cheesy) but hooking up with potential partners over the internet might be the very last thing you do.... Shocked especially if you are offering to take them and show them the way to find a lost treasure!  Shocked Sad

Good luck and good hunting to you mi amigos, I hope you find the treasures that you seek - with or without partners!  Grin
your friend,
Oroblanco

PS By the way Cptbil, I would sure be more than happy to accompany you while you take ME up to show me where Purisma Concepcion is, .... Grin Grin Cheesy ;) Shocked heh heh heh

Greetings CptBil,

I can assure you that I have absolutely no problems with guns of any kind, however you have mentioned in past threads that you carry several guns at a time, which you must admit probably would raise some fears in the minds of persons who might otherwise consider joining you.  Would you feel "safe" to go join up with someone you have never met, who mentioned in passing that he or she is bringing along a half dozen guns?  Carrying a gun for self-protection is only good sense, but beyond a single handgun per person, it is my opinion that carrying along more than that is just so much more weight to pack, may even attract un-wanted attention from someone you would rather NOT meet.  Remember my friend that guns are a very attractive thing to steal for some folks.  Even if I were going to bring along more than a single side-arm, I would NOT tell anyone about it, publicly.

I am pretty familiar with the conditions on the Mexican border, and up until a few months ago lived a hour away from it.  (My home prior to moving here to frozen SD was in Cochise county, AZ.)  I can tell you that if you should run into drug smugglers, your best bet is to get away from them as quickly as you can, rather than to try to "shoot it out" with them.  No treasure will do you any good if you are deceased.  You might well win a shootout, but remember that they have killed even Border Patrol agents and might have "reinforcements" close at hand that will help them if shooting breaks out.

I have run into smugglers on several occasions in the Tumacacori hills and in several other places, and am alive to tell about  it - unless I am forced into a shootout I am convinced your best bet is to get away and notify the Border Patrol as quickly as possible.

My offer to join you was partially in jest, as a joke after my post about the possibility of a "partner" being a possible 'whacko'.  I cannot afford to go to Arizona at the moment, though once our place in Arizona is sold I do plan on moving back there IF we can find the correct property to buy.  I have no doubts about your personal honesty and/or safety, and wish you the best of luck in your expedition.  If my financial situation improves enough by March, I will sure be in touch with you.

I can assure you there wasn't 30,000 in gold in the Wells Fargo stage robbery
on San Marcus pass(well maybe at today's value) It did contain gold coins of
private mint in San Francisco.A purple emerald broach with three small diamonds.two letters of bank trusts for cattle hides sold. And a wedding presant
to miss delagarra.A neckless made of three green emeralds ten diamonds
The box was made of sycamore wood with two thick iron straps. The lock was not a Wells Fargo lock.Since they had to wait for one to be brought up from los angles.A locale blacksmith made one.the box was painted a light green. With
Wells Fargo in Black letters. The loot was never found. But was said to be at the
junction of two creeks near a large oak tree.An old ranch hand that worked on the kettleman ranch said he found the saddle in red canyon near an oak tree
but in those days the canyons were not marked just the stage routes.
Its all in national forest and they'll arrest you for digging there.

Hello to all!!!

I myself have personally met and spoke with Cptbill for over two years now before making the desicion to "partner up" with him and BUGS.

My dog ARAGORN and I are looking foward to this expedition and from my conversations and interactions with Cptbill,The "trust" factor in his abilities and his character are very high with me or I wouldnt DREAM of putting my BUTT on the line and endure such a trip.

As to the so called "GUN-ISSUE" you can bet your bottom dollar I myself will be armed, maybe not to the teeth but adaquitly enough to protect myself and all the partners that stake out on this endevor with us or are within our "campsite".

Thank you for the offer Captain Bill, we already have a realtor handling the sale.  It would not be responsible behavior on my part if I were to go off on another treasure hunting trip, before finding a permanent home and getting that set up properly.

I thought you would get the joke right off the bat, since I had just said how we don't really know who we are talking with here, how it could be a murderer etc sort of like that old "camping" joke plus I had added in plenty of "smileys"  Grin Cheesy ;) .  However if my luck were to change and I am able to go off on a treasure hunt (I would have to have a permanent home bought and moved in etc) by the time you are going (March) I would sure get in touch with you.

I think my point about the "gun issue" is perhaps missed.  To some folks, having more than a single gun for protection might cause them to worry and perhaps decide not to join me.  I don't think it is wise NOT to take along a firearm, but bringing more than what is necessary might give the wrong impression to some people.

Good luck and good hunting, I hope you find the treasures that you seek.

Hmm almost sounds like you are headed for a fire-fight instead of a treasure huntShocked Huh Grin Cheesy ;)  Personally there is only so much iron that I want to be hauling around in the back country - I much prefer that soft YELLOW METAL instead!  Grin Cheesy ;)

Good luck and good hunting Cptbil, if you like to haul around extra firepower that is your choice - I hope you find the treasures that you seek.

Uhhh, Cpt Bill - You're either not interpretting Oro's posts well (although they seem pretty clear), or there's some other issues between the two of you...

Greetings CptBil, I can assure you that I have absolutely no problems with guns of any kind

Carrying a gun for self-protection is only good sense, but beyond a single handgun per person, it is my opinion that carrying along more than that is just so much more weight to pack

Oro seemed to go out of his way numerous times to imply he has no problems whatsoever with guns or using guns.  His only point appeared to be that having too many guns may be more of a pain in the rear than it's worth.  Nothing un-American there from what I can tell.

Scattered amongst Oro's comments are quips and jokes always surrounded by plenty of "smiley faces."  Perhaps you just aren't catching on to his type of humor - I don't know.

All in all, I don't see anyone speaking out against the Constitution, right to bear arms or being un-American at all - I just see people voicing opinons in a pretty light hearted manner.

I'd rather we quit talking about guns in general and get back to treasure talk anyways Smiley
