Primary Interest: All Types Of Treasure Hunting

Posted Sep 25, 2007, 05:23:31 pm

I've been a part of TreasureNet (off and on) since the beginning.

I've visited the other forums and belong to more than I even recall just now.

But I find that I spend 99% of my treasure forum time right back here at TreasureNet. For me, the others just don't get it. Some have some pretty nice folks but often it's only a few good ol boys. Every time I visit those forums I almost feel like I'm there uninvited and unwanted....know what I mean? Like I just walked into some private little club where I don't belong. Now, I know this isn't really true but it sure feels that way some times.

Here at TN we're sort of like family. You know, we have this love/hate relationship which is a beautiful thing!

Nope, for me there's no Treasure Forum like TreasureNet!  Cool Kiss

NOW...Why are you here?

Why do you like TN?

Do tell all...

I'm here because of the knowledge and expertise of all the people here... most I can confidently call my friends, even if we may have differences. Smiley The people on here are some of the most amazing and genuine people I've ever met. Though I agree with the "good ol' boys" comment, I have several very awesome lady friends on here as well.
I have to admit, I sometimes laugh over most of my friends on here being easily twice my age. I doubt it's very typical for an almost 25 year old guy to be associating with adults that aren't closer in age to him... but I wouldn't change a thing! I love you guys (and gals)!!!  Grin

I am here because it is comfortable here.  Like a broke in pair of shoes or a favorite chair.  I post on other forums every now and then but most of the time I only come to this one.  I like the people on here, the willingness to share tips and secrets, the friendliness of the people that post here (most of the time) and the range of topics.

I did become a charter member because someone promised me peanuts but I never got them. Sad

Seriously, this place is awesome. Smiley

When i first came here, almost two years ago, i had pretty much lost my passion for metal detecting. I was going out maybe 4 times a month and not finding nothing. I MD'ed outside an old house and found what i believed was my coolest find yet, a lead toy indian. As i was researching, i cam across this website and thought someone might be able to help or comment. I got a lot of replies and stuck around. i love then encouragement, the help in identifying finds (aka pbk), and the great advice. Before i joined this site, i have one silver nickel and some worthless junk. The year after, i got my first and second gold ring, first and second silver dime, first seated and large cent, and countless relics and clad. That year was a real turn around.

TreasureNet is like going to a convention of detectorist and not having anything you need to do but, talk, share, and show your adventures and finds from metal detecting. They are like a family. Including geeks, freaks and closet cases. Yeah! Just like a family!

Where else can you see a rusted blob that needs to be identified and find that its exactly that...?

Where else can you see a misshapened tree is beleived to be a potential treasure symbol and find that its really misshapened due to an infestation of nemotodes...?

Where else can you go to see someone getting their thrills from finding a 52D penny after digging thru 6 inches of snow, 4 inches of ice and 10 inches of permafrost...?

Where else can you go to at 1 AM in the morning when all of the bars are closed?

OK, here's where as shown on the following list...

I also think the great variety of topics is what makes this a great site....but I think the actual reason I like it better than the MD'ing sites is due to its layout and format...the other detecting sites I've visited seem...how do I say it?...sterile...the graphics here are more inviting and seem more "homey"...as someone said..like sitting on a worn sofa..instead of a steel bench....Kudos to the web page designer..

It's simply the best detecting forum I have ever seen to date. I do sometimes feel it's a little too much brand oriented Whites/Minelab , but aside from that its truly awesome , hence my Charter Membership  Smiley

I sense some ambiguity here..... are you two sure you don't mean you're here because Kirk is here in a bikini? Ohhhhhh, I forgot, he's topless!

It makes me feel good to know what I have to say is important, never feel stupid asking a question, people are great at responding, love the sharing that takes place, helpful hints, and a wealth of knowledge.  Most important I do feel like you are FAMILY.  The support, encouragement, and real desire to see each of us succeed as well as pulling us up when we are down.

I stumbled onto this site in June 07 when I was researching the purchase of my MD and getting into the hobby.  Only regret, I didn't start this sooner.  You are all GREAT.

I lik TrezureNet cuz of th purty gurls an hopin that sumday I kin getta meatum.

Oh yeah...that and Doy. Where else can you get that type of high caliber entertainment?

Oh yea...and EDDEKALB. He's cool.

Oh yeah...yeah....and my Buddy Bob is here.

And I forgot....

Oh...no...I already mentioned Doy.

wait.....Nick and his wife's food (even though I have yet to be invited to actually EAT any....looking at it is pissing me off)

Oh.....and Grubby's gold supply.

And the old coinage....and the rings...my GOD the RINGS!!!!!

and while we're at it...the lack of verified meteorites has me scratching my head...hmmmm Undecided

And the sheer vast unadulterated volume of clad found convinces me we will never run out! (although in 50 years finding an intact zlincoln may be damn near impossible)

and did I mention the variety of forum topics?

And the general attention paid to detail?

It would have been a LOT easier to post the things I DON'T like about TNet.

I enjoy the freedom of shared knowledge available on the site.

I dislike the censorship of one of the moderators.

I've enjoyed many shared conversations, both agreeable and disagreeable.

I like the idea that everyone is treated as an equal.
as a friend .... whether they have one post with a pulltab and a couple nails or a hand full of Spanish D-bars.

Where else can a not so often MD using old fart like me enjoy the company of kids like Kirk and Zboy, and pull Buckleboy's chain at the same time.
And enjoy the company of old friends like Grubstake and MesaBuddy and others.

And of course best of all....
Get before hand skinny on Gypseyheart's yard sales !!!

Life doesn't get too much better than that!

The Jokes aren't too bad either.

This is why Tnet is the best:

1] If you find a pulltab or a gold coin, you are encouraged the same.
2] I love you all, the people are great.
3] The site is a book of interesting facts.
4] The Moderators etc are the best.... They are very fair.
5] I have learnt so much from everyone. Every topic a history lesson.
6] Love the pictures.
7] It was this site that got me started... the gift of my detector  ;)
8] Even my stupid questions are answered with respect.
9] I laugh, cry, and sometimes feel sorry with the people every time I come here....
10] Where else do you get such beautiful lasses that can take a joke and laugh with us men?

God bless
Peter

Great source of information.
Lots of friendly folks. Like family.
Willing to help each other when they need it.
Tough love, when they need it too.
Like seeing what others find from different parts of the country and the world.
Can always get a good laugh.

Where else on the net will you find a forum make GOOD friends and be able to give them such a hard time one minute,,,,, and the next minute get the most accurate and sincerely honest information helping you, from the same guy?

Good bad or indifferent, you must admit... the help offered by anyone on TN is honest accurate and sincere.

Will,
Any chain pulling you get from me is at the very least for humors sake, and never meant to offend.

I also like the fact that the members do back their posts with facts, or ask for help in doing so. Shows not only honesty but integrity.

I really like that everyone lets an old desert bum like me participate as an equal.

I like it here because everyone is very friendly and helpful. Even though I have not found great things yet, I am still welcomed here. The chat room is great. Everytime I enter, everyone says Hi. The folks here are just awesome and I just wish that I had the time to hunt with you. I post on several other forums, but the bulk of my time is spent here. There are people who are very knowledgeable about all fields of treasure hunting (detecting, cache, prospecting, etc). When the chips are down and life has kicked you in the gut, you can come here for support. Great site. The mods are top notch in my opinion.
