It was 38 degrees when I got up this morning… 6 degrees above freezing.

It looked like a brisk and clear day for my hunting partner Wingman Tony and I to head out to one of our digging grounds…

And it was a good day – for both of us!

We both spent some time diggin’ trash… what I call “relics”, and actually came up with a few real relics too.   It was a clear day with awesome scenes… snow in the mountains, a few horseback riders, some great buttons… and a coin!

The coin is a huge thing for us because Tony and I have only ever dug one coin each from this spot… we never ever expect to find them… but when we do it’s extremely exciting!  Monday - Tony found his second coin… an awesome 1868 Shield Nickel.

Okay – no long stories… just a bunch of pictures…

My first eagle button of the day…

It was a great day for looking at the sky… and it warmed up nice!

Jim,
Always a pleasure to see your posts. Congrats to you guys on the finds, especially the nickel. Although you guys don't find many coins, you do come up with some great relics.

Kirk... thanks for asking.  LOL

The other two coins that came outta there were both seated dimes... mine was 1877, Tony's was... um, I don't remember.

We have several private properties we hunt over a very large area... they all produce something... some highly concentrated, some with nuthing for acres.  One propery is 600 acres on both sides of the river, to give you some idea.  There is one ranch we hunted that is over 10,000 acres... some more we have yet to hunt at 7,000 acres... all private - enough to keep ten people detecting for a lifetime.

Wow, very nice Nickel !!! That picture of Tony diggin' some priceless relics...Is really cool, I love how you got all that sky and little tiny Tony at the bottom. It really gives you an Idea of how small we really are. The rest of the group of pictures are great too, but I really like that one of Tony. When you guys hit a hot spot I hope you at least do a little Cache hunting. With all that land and the hot spots you find. Someone must have buried a cache or two near those hot spots.

Nice finds, but the pics are great. I spent two weeks on horseback
elk hunting in the Bob Marshall Wilderness a few years back & it
would be hard to find more beautiful country anywhere. Rugged
country, high altitudes , not a place for those not prepared, but
scenery beyond compare. I lucked out & got a nice bull elk, but
even if didn't have meat hangin on the pole, the trip & the horseback
ride thru those mountains are memories I'll never forget.
