Dennis, from one Dennis to another.  I found a pic of my  first chest mount.  I have since made one out of a piece of alum. tubing with the holes drilled for the mounting.  I used bolts with wing nuts for securing the unit.  Used heavy nylon weed whacker cord for the clips to attach to, but the alum one has two holes at the top for the camera strap.  Hope this helps.

Thank You!!!  "Dennis" Sandman,

Yes it does help..
That looks like a pretty simple setup...   I'm guessing that I could use the HipMount setup that came with my Excalibur..

In the past I thought that I've seen chest mounted setups that were a type Harness Style.. Quick Connect snaps if you will..

Thanks for posting and trying to help...

that is a nice rig u have

where did u get the bottle holder - santa brought me a new S/S one - that rig u have looks promising

my harness is kinda like yours, but i have two scoop draggers on each side so when i change hands i can switch from side to side - note dive knife on one side for whatever

good luck

Max....you asked about the bottle holder..it was made by the wife & I..it's insulated covered with nylon cloth, attaches to the belt with a piece of 2 in x 6 in velcro...however, a few days ago I was in very rough surf conditions and got slammed (damn, thank you maam) by a wave that ripped the bottle and pouch off, which of course I never saw again along with my new prescription polarized sunglasses..the new one when finished will have quick release buckles and velcro.........Rdi

Max..you are very observant..it is what you think it is..I will be adding a pair of side cutter pliers for steel wire..a friend got entangled in wire and his knife was useless,he now carries both as I will shortly..Rdi

this is just my opinion! chest mounts for me and the excal never worked out too well. seemed like i was always hitting it with the scoop when digging. so about 6 years ago i mounted mine on a dive belt using a piece of i think 1/2 inch electrical pvc. used 3 nylon screws and wingnuts. so when i wear it it is on my lower back. i dont even realize it is there when hunting and it is never in the way. a lot less on your back also if you go out for a couple of hours.

That is my biggest concern about chest mounts.  I have it set up so that I can change from/to  chest/waist/shaft mount within minutes.  Obviously, I will settle on a preferred configuration after a while.  Good input.

metalman...chest mount excal has never interfered with my scoop, even in shoulder high water,it may be the way I dig or perhaps it's because I'm short and fat...

beep....I also made my excal pouch so it could be mounted on my chest, back, hip, as well as being hung vertically..I have tried all  positions and the chest mount is what I'm most comfortable with and feel it protects the excal the most ...Rdi

r d i

i have a question for u.................i ment to ask it before, but forgot.

u mentioned  u were thinking about or did get some of those pliers gizmos - pouch type do all tool.

i have tried two kinds...........s/s models.............nice, but after a spell being in the case and all, they all rusted up............have u had any luck with these and if yes, what type did u use.

also................for your info....................regarding the harness deal......................my shoe shop guy that sews my stuff together gave me some of this glue to assemble  - works great - coat both areas, let it set for a few mins...................stick together....................really holds great and then he just sews it together here and there.

called   "BARGE"

Max...Thanks for the tip about the Barge cement, already found where to purchase it on the internet.

I've also ruined a stainless steel multi-tool (damn salt water), haven't bought my pliers yet,but are looking at these 2..the Shakespeare's from Cabela's and the Browning from Bass Pro Shops. If money is no object titanium pliers are the way to go,but from $250 to $450 a pair...I'll have to settle for aluminum or titanium plated pliers.....I would rather have a multi-tool over pliers, but have been unable to find a multi-tool that will hold up to salt water.....

                     Good hunting....Rdi
