Some of you have asked me how I display all my finds from the Shark Pit & when the Museum was going to open. Well I found an old display case that needed some work but was the right size. I put all new glass shelves and a top on it & also new brackets and paint job! I have been slowly going over my finds from the Pit & putting this display together.  I am pleased to say,
THE SHARK PIT MUSEUM IS NOW OPEN!  Grin
I thought you might want to see some pictures of it. Thanks for looking!

Wow, very nice. I always enjoyed your posts on the 'shark pit' & knew
you had plenty of finds there, but all that is amazing. Plenty of work on
your part & it shows. Great job & thanks for showing us.

Also like the pictures & info on pieces as a reference.

Thanks for the Banner vote Bud! It would be an honor!

Here are some more pictures & close ups!
And pictures of 2 items that are not in this case but should be included in this collection. One is of the 1963 class ring that I returned to the owner after being lost for 43 years! Maybe I should just put a picture of it in the case. Cheesy
Here's a link to that story http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,57059.0.html
And the other is an old anchor I pulled up out there. It won't fit in the case but I have to figure out a way to display it with this case!

WOW!!!!  I am, as always, awed by the finds and to see them all together is mind boggling!  I am going to figure out where that place is yet....lol!  I was up in MD last month and believe me, you were not far from my mind, but I still could not figure out where it was.  Once you clean the place out, will you let on where it is??  would love to know, it's killing me...... well, maybe its the jealousy that's killing me.  At any rate, great job!!!

Thanks Ken , I got the case at a Flea market for 50.00. It needed a lot of work but I could tell it was about the right size & it opens from the front like I needed it to. It cleaned up well.

Thanks Bootybay, Yes there is some Megladon teeth in there! If you look at the poster you can see the big  Megladon at the bottom. It gives you an idea of how much bigger that Shark was than any other shark ever!

OK Rob, straight up I'm really jealous. Not because of all your incredible finds from this one site. But more so because you've displayed a very rare quality. Many people are talented but very few have many talents. You my friend, if I may be so bold as to call you that, are not only an obviously an expert treasure hunter. As well as a freaking awesome artist. Your display of said treasure is more than just that (A display) but rather an artfull, educational, Smorgasbord of artifacts which range the gamut of our chosen ad-vocation.
Then to top it all off, you are without a doubt a benefactor to the arts.  To share such a special treasure trove in such a special way is truly magnanimous of you. So I'm left with nothing else to say as I'm flabbergasted.

                                                                   Thank You

Outstanding, awesome, unbelieveable, etc.  There just isn't enough words to cover your finds, and to state the great manner in which you chose to display them.  Like your posts on the Shark Pit, your display layout is unmatched.  I agree with the others, that it is banner material, and I wish you luck in achieving it.  Keep it up, and will be waiting to see your next installment of the never ending tale of the "Shark Pit".  WTG

Thanks again guys for the replies! ;)

                                                                   Thank You

                                                                     MD Dog

Wow MD Dog! I never knew I was all those things! Cheesy Thanks for all the kind words. ;)

Huh   What is your MOST favorite find in that display    Huh
Hard to say Ashleen. But the WW1 dog tag got personal for me after visting his grave & reading his will. I was honored that that story is now listed under "The Best Of T-net." http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,27899.0.html
The Gold Lion ring is cool too! ;)

RTDE3....Everyone took the words right off my keyboard....WOW!!!! Very nicely done. I have enjoyed your posts and seeing your finds from the Shark Pit...but never imagined you had so much...WOW!!!

BTW...did you keep that badge? If so...that offer still holds if you want the night stick.

I can't wait for the weather to get warmer to see what your next adventure will bring out of Davy Jones' Locker!
Annmarie

Thanks Annmarie! Yes I did keep the badge. (See picture 12) It was kinda hard to turn down 1,000 bucks but he said the offer is still the table if I need the money one day! If it were up to my wife it would have been gone!  Grin

Simply amazing Rob!  I know there is plenty more out there in the Shark Pit to add to it in the coming months and years.  I guess what I find most impressive is the history aspect.  Many of the items are what some here would call junque or crappe' and just toss it aside after a hunt.  You have pointedly demonstrated what this metal detecting business is all about.  Some so called archaologists and historians would say, " Let it stay there where it is preserved", but we know that if you hadn't retrieved it and opened a window into history it would be lost forever.  I look forward to many more exciting posts from you and the Shark Pit, and if I never find anything comparable I will be able to share it with you over the months and years to come.  Thank you for inviting us along for the ride.  Monty

Make sure you put a good alarm system in!  That would be terrible if someone decided to do in 10 minutes what it took you years to do.

Great stuff.  I know you are proud of your hard work.

I think that about expresses my feelings also on your fantastic post. Now that is one great collection. Looks like years of hunting all laid out in a nice, orderly, eye catching manner. Congratulations on all your great finds. I am sure there must be several terrific stories behind a lot of those finds. You could probably make a living publishing them in the TH mags.

I also would like to thank you for sharing. Am (almost) at a loss for words. Cheesy

Thanks Ray! Yes, this is 3 years worth of hunting the Pit. And yes there are many stories behind many of these finds. Some I hope to tell in a book one day & some we will never know. As for sharing these finds with T-net, That's half the fun of finding this stuff sharing it with friends! Wink

Dang!!  I didnt think there was that much here in our ole Chesapeake Bay!  Great Job!  There are soo many pieces in that collection that I don't know where to start.  It is really amazing that you found all those pieces to the old cash register which is a very neat display.  I really like the "pop out" coin button too.   That "Jeb Stuart High School" ring with the Virginia seal on the side and the school crest was extremely nice too! Wink Wink  Great Job Bud!!
