   I had an awesome day.
Bob and I`s first stop was a little north of Chavis Park in Raleigh where i found what i think is a
   buckle.
   Plus more brass and lead.
Any ideas on its age or how to straighten Huh

Our second stop was back to Dorthea Dix where i snagged this 1942 Quarter. Yippee
   Plus toys and clad.

My last find was at the recycling dumpsters where i found these 3 bottles of Wine.

Bummer it looks like theres gunk on my lens.

Wow ,that hurts . If you heat it up you should be able to bend it back . I would be very careful and go real slow. Very cool find!

Bill, that's a great find! You go from aluminum cans to CW buckles. Hopefully you can get er' straightened out. I don't think I would even try though. I'd be a fraid of snapping it in half.  Cry

Thanks GL i starred at that page for almost a half an hour trying to get an exact match.
no such luck, but very close on most of them so i`m guessing it dates around 1851.
If it is cast it will impossible to straighten.
It`s amazing that this one got bent up this much without breaking.

Thanks Allen for finding my typo. / Wishfull thinking i guess.

Thanks everyone for looking and you replies.

Bob found some wheats and clad but left me his aluminum and copper.
Thanks Bob for the recyclables ( And your company).

Thanks bob but theres no berries in the shrubbery of the eagles right foot on the one you sent me.

I think it feels and looks like brass, so i`ll probably try a little heat.  (Not tonight though, to much wine Tongue

It is an 1851.. seems there are variations.. different manufactors?? I really... really would not try to straighten it.. even if you do get it straight the plate will have stress fractures and the patina will pop off any where there were stress fracture... soo even if it "flat" it won't look good.. besides you have a 100% as dug buckle!!! Go with it!!!

I also thought it was a cool little Chevy looking  hot wheels truck.

Let me know if you want it, i`ll ship it ASAP.

Thanks everyone for looking.

FYI i`ve almost finished bottle #2 of the wines and they have really been sweet so far.
Saving the long neck for last tard

There are people that do professional restorations on those old relics and do outstanding work.  I would bet Robert McDaniel could make that look aweful nice.

Do NOT try to straighten it yourself.  I have done that before, and it is the SCARIEST experience EVER!  The difference is that you have a CIVIL WAR sword belt plate...I just had a pre-war militia plate that wasn't worth the money for a professional restoration.  If you want it "unrolled," let a professional do it, or leave it as-is.  That is a GREAT find!  I hope you turn up some old lead or CW buttons there.  Nice work!!!
