The Best Of & Grand Totals From The Shark Pit Part 1!
I have been asked by people on this forum to give some totals & pics. from the spot I have been hunting named The Shark Pit.  So I got out everything I have found from this spot & took some  pics. & added things up. I have 10 pictures to show so It will take me a few post to fit them all in this thread. I will still be hunting this site, so these totals are as of now! The first pic. will let you see why it's called The Shark Pit. 44 Sharks teeth, 6 StingRay teeth/plates & one prehistoric porpoise tooth. The next Pic. is of 20 Buffalo Nickels, 24 V nickles, 1 Barber quarter, 2 IH Penny's, 1 wheat, 1 100 REIS & 2 slugs. The next Pic is of 44 encrusted coins that I call Cookie Coins. Scroll down for more Pics.

This Pic. is of the 17 bottles, jar & vase I found. The next pic. is of pieces of glass I have collected from this site. The next pic of An old anchor I found. And the last pic of the collection is of a 6'' metal Sea Horse that is still soaking in my tank trying to clean. That's all folks! Stay tune for more finds in the coming weeks!

Amazing finds!!   Has Weastern and Eastern picked up on this yet?
If not, then there missing out.
Not that it matters, but the arrow head looks like it might be a spear point. Is the top part broken off? I use to hunt for them, but i'm not an expert. Or could be a knife used by the squaws for scraping off fat from inside hides in preperation for tanning.
Congrats on your site.  I have a feeling i'll be seeing you in a magazine soon. Make sure they know which is your good side. Some say my back is my best side.         WTG!!!        HH

That was a great nickle site. I had a site like that and it made me wonder were all the silver was hiding. You did a good job at the site by digging and looking with your eye's to make finds. With the sands and water shifting all the time you should be able to make some finds there for awhile.

Keep up the good work. Great pics and a good story to wrap it up.

What do you do with a shark's tooth?  I'm serious!  Being landlocked except for freshwater lakes I've seen sharks teeth before but just wondered why you would want them.  Conversation pieces, sell on ebay, etc?  By  the way, you really have found some interesting things and it makes me wonder of their origin, who used them and what for, what did they look like, where did they live, what kind of people were they, all those things make treasure hunting so much fun and so stimulating.  JIM

Awesome cache....I know the Barber was imprisoned in a rock type formation. Do you suppose the "Cookie" coins are silver as well....given the lack of any others found??   IE... is silver affected much more adversley by salt waters??  I only hunt fresh water and silver coins tend to build up hard , black crud on them where other metals dont.....Love them shark teeth....JO

rvbvetter, I also think the Arrow head is probably a spear point. The Indian was probably spear fishing with it way back when. I don't know if this collection is worthy of W & E, But thanks for the compliment!

Woah!

Jake, I am going to try!

HH Jer

Thanks Jer, I think all the silver is hiding in the cookie coins I have found there. I guess the nickel is not easily encrusted like the silver coins & this is why I find so many. They do have a light crust on them at first but it come right off when you rub on them. I always enjoy your post Jer, as a matter of fact the one pic. I have of all the misc. stuff from this site reminds me of one of your pics.!

What do you do with a shark's tooth?? I'm serious!? Being landlocked except for freshwater lakes I've seen sharks teeth before but just wondered why you would want them.? Conversation pieces, sell on ebay, etc?? JIM

Jim, Some people make jewelery out of them, some people sell them on ebay & other places. Some of these teeth are from species of sharks that are extinct. The one prehistoric porpoise tooth is probably Millions of years old & some of the sharks teeth may also date back that far. So people collect them from many reasons. I think most of us fear & are fascinated with sharks. I guess it like anything else that one collects, bottle caps, stamps, baseball cards... it's only worth what someone will pay you for it or what it means to you. Some will see the same value of them like you & others will wonder why anyone would want them. Like you, I also wonder the story behind some of the things I find. Like the WW1 dog tag, Did the soldier that lost it see combat in the war? What was he doing there where I found it? Did he live near there? Or the pendent I found with the ladies on both sides of it & the word "France" on it. How did she loose it? Was she from France? How old was she when she lost it, Young Or old? Was it a gift? You are right, this is what makes treasure hunting so much fun! Your imagination just runs wild!

?? Awesome cache....I know the Barber was imprisoned in a rock type formation. Do you suppose the "Cookie" coins are silver as well....given the lack of any others found?Huh IE... is silver affected much more adversely by salt waters??? I only hunt fresh water and silver coins tend to build up hard , black crud on them where other metals don't.....Love them shark teeth....JO
Jopher, I think you are right about the cookies being silver. The nickels just don't seem to be affected the same way from the saltwater.
Again, Thanks everyone for the compliments!

Hi rtde, Your right some of your items are very similar to one's I have found. The token that says good for five cents in trade with the hole in the middle. I got the same exact one. Some of the gears and other items look very similar also.

You keep up the good work. Clean that bay out and keep us posted.

Winter project maybe. Work on all those cookie coins and see what's under all that
crude.

Thanks again guys! It is almost as much fun for me to share/show off what I have found as it is to go find it. All of your compliments are truly rewarding!

Norteast, I farthist I have found something is about 75 to 100 yards off shore. As far as the most valuable coin, it's hard to say.
These coins are not in that great of shape after being in the salt water for about 70 years. I think some of the other things I have found have more value than the coins, at least to me. Thanks, Rob
