I had a great day today folks. I will post my other finds soon.
Today on my way home from work, I stopped by a local park where I found two gold rings last year. I hadn't hit a school or park in a long time so this was a treat. I found two rings that I will post in another post. As I was detecting by the lake a mother and her daughter walked past me. The mother asked, "Is that a metal detector?"
I said, "Yes, it is."  Then she tells me there is a guy over by the play areas looking for his wedding ring that he just lost in the sand.
I couldn't believe it! So I stroll over there and see the guy looking frantically for his ring. I introduced myself and offered to look for it.
He said he was scooping sand away from one of the rocking toys and his ring went flying, but he wasn't sure where.
Well, I fired up the Mighty Tesoro and went at it. After a few coins I got another good signal and "BAM", there it was in all it's glory. The shiny gold staring back at us!  He was soooooo happy to see his ring again. He yelled to his daughter, "Look, the man found my ring!"
He must have thanked me ten times, but his smile was enough for me.
Now for the really good news....  We BS'd a bit and I told him I really like recovering CW relic hunting. He said he has a friend that has an 80 year old house that also has a plantation house on the property with many acres. He said he and his wife go over there and find relics & bottles just by eyeball.
He said the owner and her kids LOVE anything to do with the Civil War. I gave him my card and he is going to speak to the owner now on getting me permission to hunt that property. I hope the good karma pays off.  thumbsup
Here are a few vids of the ring being returned to the owner.
