Hey Guys! I am about to have a little fun with the now famous "Cookie Coins" that I find at the Shark Pit! Some of you have seen the experiments that Floater, Conservator & AF1733 has done on these coins. Now it's my turn to throw some amps to them & see what happens! I'm no pro & I might just crumble them, but what ever happens you all will see the pictures right here! I thought it might be fun? to see if anyone can guess what they will turn out to be. I mean what kind of coin, year & mint marks if we can see these things when I'm done! The closest guess wins a cookie coin & a Sharks Tooth from the pit free with shipping! If there is a tie, we will break it somehow. Here is how we will name the 5 coins starting from your left going right. The smallest coin is #1 then #2 ,#3 & the coin with the chip is coin #4. The coin in the rock will be coin #5. The guesses will end when you can tell by my pictures what the first coin is or the date on it.? I will be back later with more details & Pics. on my Experiment! So here are the before pictures of all 5 coins. They are in the tank now! Start guessing NOW! Legal stuff below! Its late but I will guess tommorrow if I am allowed. PS I still have oine cookie and I will give you all a hint on the progress . This coin is MS 60. Oh yeah. Believe it.

OK, here is what Rob's Cookie Caper looks like! Remember, I am no pro & just having fun so lets not take this too seriously because I'm not! I am using a battery charger with a manual switch. I set that switch to 2Amps. My anode is an stainless steel spatula. I am using Arm & hammer baking soda as the electrolyte. And as you can see I am using a 10 gal. fish tank to put everything in. I put the coins in turn on the charger & check them every 20 min. or so. When need be, I take them out scrub them some & put them back in.? As of now I am well in to this & taking pictures of it all. I will post more later. Mean Time keep guessing!

We all know there's no such thing as a "hunted out" location. Let's stop using that phrase to describe a park out of which you just dug a pile of coins! Obviously that particular place wasn't "hunted out", right?

Ok 1. Barber dime 1903 2. Liberty head nickel 1905 3. Barber quarter 1897 4. Barber quarter 1900 5. Barber quarter 1899
Let me also say that 2 amps is going to burn these up before they get Identified. 20 minutes between rinses and peel is too much Rob, you need to reduce that down to 5 minutes Please see my new post on the treatment which I am posting now and will be complete in twenty miunutes. Remeber amperage is the Enemy over ,5 amps. I have reduced and gone back to 130mA @ 6 volts.

OK, No more guesses after this post because you can now tell what kind one of the of the 5 coins is. Here are some pics. of the coins coming out of the tank after 20 mins. Floater was right 2 amps is too much to let go that long without checking on & maybe too many amps all together. Remember I'm no pro, just trying my luck here. I did start checking them every few min. after the first time. I will post the finished coins & the winner of the contest next post soon!

We Have A Winner! Floater got 3 coins right & even nailed the dates of two!! 2nd place was sugar sand who got 3 coins right but no dates. Good job guys! OK the coins turned out to be: 1903 Barber Dime, Wheat Penny (no date), 1908 Barber Quarter, 1900 Barber Quarter & a Standing Liberty Quarter (no date). As you can see like Floater warned (after I started) 2 amps was too much to use on these, You can see where the clamp was on the coins it burned them dark. Oh well I tried! I did learn something & we did find out what some of them were! Thanks for playing, hope it was fun! Rob Floater check your mail soon!

YAY !!! Ok Rob That was fun . I will look forward to the mail. What amazes me though is the condition of the cookies after that much amperage. Without being able to touch or feel it is tough to determine the condition but those appear to be in relatively solid states. Do they feel like you could snap them or do they have some wieght left to them. I am going to post over on Sharkpit 3 in a while here with my conclusions on that barber dime and some of the techniques. I really want to know about these though. Can you do some side shots for thickness for us? Thanks again Rob, lets do it again.

The quarters all have a thin side & a thick side as you can see by the pics. and they do have some weight to them. We will do it again when I get some time. Rob
