Well folks, it rained all day here in NC, and tomorrow we are supposed to get snow.  Undecided  What a great time to get caught up with my relic displays.  Wink
You may remember some of these finds from past hunts. All of these displays & relics I made to donate to the local museum.
It's a great feeling to be able to give something back to the community where I metal detect. The museum also lets me keep my detecting business card on display for others to see while visiting. A great way for me to get more properties to detect.  thumbsup

One of my favorite finds was the small Tiger pin which, per the museum director, may be the only example they have ever seen.
It was the mascot used in the late 1800's until the 1920's before Wake Forest became the Demon Deacons.
I dug it up on the old ball field.  thumbsup

Some of you may remember the Scarificator mid-1800's bloodletting device too. Also a very unusual find.  Grin

Enjoy,
MM

Thanks Chris.
On Friday, I saw the lady I made that small one for last week. She kept thanking me and said that it is so nice that I do this for people.
She said "I would have even paid you for making this shadowbox."   Grin   I may lose money detecting, but there is a LOT of gratification by doing nice things for others.  thumbsup
By the way, we have August 9th, 10th, & 11th penciled in for our Wisconsin trip to Boulder Junction.

Beatuiful collection, but I would never donate them to anybody. Fill out the paper stating that they are on LOAN to them. This way if you ever want them back you can get them, and it will keep them from selling them which museums will do. I donated my collection of arrow heads to a museum, and have never seen them again. That was years ago. Every time I ask about them the come up with some kind of an excuse to why they are not on display. My grandkids wants to see them now, and can't. Think about it before you give them away.

Old River and Kuger,
Sounds like you've had a bad experience with your museums. Our family has a lot of my great grandfathers collections (coins, bird eggs, mounted birds, etc.) in our hometown museum, and people have been enjoying them for decades now.
As far as my donations to this museum, there is really nothing of value here that I would lose sleep over. Actually, the shadowbox itself is the most expensive item.  Grin  This small museum is currently in a 1800's two story house, but they are building a brand new museum right behind this existing one. The exterior is being designed to look period correct to fit in with an 1800's plantation. They are really in need of displays to fill up the new museum, so I'm not too worried about my displays getting lost or put out to pasture anytime soon.  thumbsup
-MM-
P.S. I am also contributing the almost $2.00 in clad that I found on the museum property too. Grin

I commend the museum thats holding you finds. Sounds like they will do what is supposed to be done with the displays. I just that mine would have shown me a little thanks for my collection. Its wounderful to put your finds out so others can enjoy them. I commend you for it. Some day I will do the same with mine. Our community is planning a museum for the history of the area I live in. I will have them display the things I have in it, because it all got to do with the history of Old River where I live. I've had offers to buy some of my finds, but its not for sale. I would rather everyone enjoy them.

God Bless

MM I have posted a lot of displays in the past. They are probably 5,6,or 7 pages down now. Also in "My Collection" is some of my displays. If You can't find I will try to post them again. Just let me know. I love showing them off. I have some in best finds, and what is it also.  I had one of my buttons from the Texas Navy on the banner a while back. I was thrilled. It is suppose to be in Western, Eastern Treasure magazine in April. Good luck on you hunts. HH
