I got a two box detector and since it detects deep, maybe I need more than just a shovel. Has anyone tried one of these? Harbor Freight sells it for $2995.00 Says it will dig to 7 feet deep.

I help build trails here in Austin and some one brought one of these out to a trail build awhile back and maybe it's just the bad soil we have here ,but this thing didn't work worth a hoot,it's under powerd

Oh yeah I think that I owned that model. They do great but they are for light stuff only. The first time you start digging around a boulder or tearing out a stump expect to start fixing it on a regular basis.

Thanks for the good input everybody, I will probably just rent a proper backhoe when the time comes to unearth the big one. I am getting pretty good at digging 4-5 foot deep with a shovel and haven't really needed to go any deeper than that so far.
