You got a civil war ASTEROID!!!!!!!!
BIG TIME congratulations on the the
hunt, the find, and the BANNER!!!!!!!
As a wise man once told me, "You are D MAN!!!

Thanks Ty.
Maybe our bullet swap was good karma?  Grin
I've been dying to find a CW buckle after seeing so many posted up on TN.  I thought if I ever did find one it would be out in the woods I hunt, not a yard.
Boy, was I wrong.  Shocked
Now if I can just find an LC.

MM, is this the best hobby in the world or what. Congratulations on the banner & the find. We save history.

Deno,
This is indeed the best hobby in the world. I used to think it was fishing, but I bring more home when I detect.  Grin

Way to go! You are on a banner roll! Keep it up and take over that banner. I have to ask what that small ornate item is? Do you know? I do like the suspender clip, maybe it came from the same soldier?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CG,
I was wondering what that ornate piece was too. I almost thought it was junk, but then I saw a desing & a bit of a flash on it. No idea though.  icon_scratch
I thought that suspender clip was pretty cool also with the design & stars on it.

MM, huge congrats on the find and the banner! Very sweet! Too bad you didn't have the video camera to capture that one!

WTG!  thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

That's the sad part. I did have my camera in my truck about 100 yards away. I was not expecting this find at all, and I really didn't want others to see me filming it, since it was in a very busy area. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  Wink

Doug,

Now you really did knock yourself off the Banner!!  Grin Grin Grin

Doug, I hope you have figured it out by now....no need to keep whining about not finding any silver.....silver is not what you should be looking for in your area....your a CW master hunter now....CW relics is what you should be detecting for.....And it looks like you found another AMAZING piece!!  wav

Congrats, Doug!  Your finds are becoming more amazing/rare with each swing of your coil!

Isn't it a GREAT hobby?

HH,
CAPTN SE
Dan

PS - Please get that relic professionally authenticated.  I've been searching online, and there are many, many fakes/reproductions of CW buckles.

Thanks Big Dan.
You're right, the old silver coins just aren't in my future. I'll stick to the relics instead. The Mighty Tesoro LOVES relics.  Grin
You can bet I'll get this buckle authenticated and appraised. I need to do that anyways as part of the entry process for the W & ET "Best Finds" edition.
Ya-hoooooooooooooooooo,
Doug

Wow, Doug, you are HOT!  Glad your persistence is paying off! icon_king  Good luck finding the other half

Congrats on the Banner!

Just curious, what did it ring on your machine?
Keep digging!

Mich,
My machine rang up as "beep".  Grin  I use a very basic (but deadly) machine with no display. I can tell most targets by the tone I get, but this one I had no clue. I new it was large, but I was expecting another Matchbox car.  Grin

Pretty sweet Doug.  But you know what this means - you ain't got a chance now to get that 1/2 real.  Wink Cheesy Grin

*I found it in an open area that DD-777 and Mirage had hit a few weeks back. I can't believe they missed it, but I'm truly thankful.  thumbsup
It must have been my Mighty Tesoro Umax.  Grin tongue3

We only had about a half hour to 45 minutes max at that site.   5 minutes more and it would have been mine!   Grin  That's why I come down to hunt at your sites....I'm no dummy.  tongue3   thumbsup
Bob

Bob,
I'll let you use my Silver Umax next time you come down. You know they love relics.  Grin
I'm glad I turned the old guy your way that day to distract you, otherwise this buckle really could have been yours.  Grin
I won't even bring up the two Rosies, 1917 Merc, 1897 IH, and silver ring you missed.  tongue3  Just kidding, I know we were only there very briefly before our wive's called us home.
Come down any time Bob. I enjoy detecting with you, reale or not.  thumbsup  Bring Nate too if you can get him away from the ladies.

I don't think we appreciated how very rare that NC buckle was when you recovered it MM. I have not seen one like it since you dug this one on dealer or treasure sites. It's doubtful you will top this find in your lifetime. This ranks in the top 10 best CW relic finds ever on Tnet in my opinion. HH, Quindy.
