On the lower photo I see what looks to be one half of a hinge.It's on the upper left edge.I'm guessing there was a lid on a container.Maybe it held a cosmetic substance? Check the price of silver,it's very high now!

you know i never noticed that. i have had it a while. you are right about silver. i buy my kids silver rounds and bars and the proof sets , walking lib, dollars to save for when they get older Smiley  i enjoy looking at them but i llike digging coins then buying them anytime Smiley. i have not bought no silver for a while but hope it gos down Undecided prop will. thanks for the reply Smiley

It would help when people ask for help that they give an indication of size.  Can't say if it's a compact or what.  So I'm guessing it is maybe the size of a half dollar.

In theory, it could be on the face of something, such as a cane, if it was a status item, particulary when there's what's possibly a logo.  Like a contemporary Gucci item, if you will. Smiley

On the other hand, the lack of lip and the hinges suggests it was the bottom, or female side, of something.
