Here's one from the TOC in an attractive amber color.

The only ink I have dug is a very new one.  It is similar in style to the one you posted above, but it is machine made.

I dream of one day digging an umbrella ink or even a master ink bottle.  Smiley

I have one ink bottle that I found while walking along the Ohio River bank here in my home town. It was laying in the river in shallow water. The neck was put on a little crooked.
Not sure you can read it but it reads  Underwood's Inks.

Excellent little ink, 'Itownguy'!  That's not a form with which I am familiar.

Glad you like the Harrison's Columbian Ink, guys.

Here are some master inks . . . "master" in the sense that they held bulk ink from which fonts were filled.  This first one is American, as you can tell from the embossing.  Note the pour spout.

inkmasterdavids.jpg
These two master inks are British-made.  Note that instead of a spout, these two bottles have "v" grooves impressed in the inner side of the lip.  This groove guided the ink during a pour.

I had to go count my inks. I've got 87 but haven't been very active in acquiring any in the last several years. I used to be big in collecting bottles but digging up old rusty iron is more to my liking now.

Here's one that I dived up from an old river landing:

Here's another view of that yellow-amber umbrella ink.  The first image I posted was flash-assisted.  This one is merely backlighted.  I think this backlighted image is closest to the actual bottle color.

Beautiful inks, all! I just dug two this week, and I plan to write a short story of the finds that I've recently dug, just been busy condo hunting. Here's a nice emerald green "Carter's 1897" I just dug. Found it with a pretty teal colored Carter, as well as two other bottles.

Those Carter's cone inks are so colorful!

Definitely a cat, dogs don't have vertical pupils, do they?

I have neither dog nor cat . . . I have an Amazon parrot.  He has managed to break a couple of good bottles over the past 25 years despite my best efforts.

Carl, how did you train your cat to stay off your bottle shelves?

No kidding about the cats on the bottle shelves.  I lost a good bottle or two due to pets over the years.   Cry

Harry, I'd love to know how you take and edit your photos.  Perhaps a new thread is the place to discuss it...but I'd love some tips.  Do you photoshop out the the backgrounds and do a white fill?  How do you backlight?  What wattage?  etc...

Thanks again for sharing such great examples with all of us.

Here's a golden amber cone ink.  This one has no markings on the base, like the cobalt example.  The third cone ink, the olive-green one, has the CARTER'S embossing on the bottom.

Yes, I think I did post something about my set-up.  I've made a manual search and used the newly-available search feature here, but I cannot come up with it.  I'll post something soon.

I like these inks, 'Erdspiegel' -- these are forms I've not before seen.

The cobalt blue bottle -- does it have creases or are the color streaks in untextured glass?

The blue bottle is corrugated inside. If light shines on, it gets this look.

What a difference 40 or 50 years made! The black glass, 3-mold master ink on the left dates to about 1850. The cobalt blue master ink on the right dates to about 1900.

Good finds, Wayne!

I've never had the presence of mind to take before and after images of much.  Nice to have!

The only two I've found so far, but I really like "Inks". Cool thread, I didn't know there were so many different kinds.

Well, you may prefer "fountain" inkwell; but, I see a resemblance to a turtle. Don't you?
