As long as you love it.....surveying will expose you to more MD sites than any other occupation.  Another plus, you will have the ability to do research beyond others, just knowing how to work the courthouse systems.  Start reading old journals, find out whose farm had the grove picnics, and off you go to the courthouse.   Surveying at times will seem like a curse in a way, it is not easy, that is why few people do it.  You need doged determination, solid, I mean solid work ethic, and willingness to always learn.   When I am reading a deed and see calls for stones at corners, I get determined to find them.  Anyone can find a pin, pipe, or railroad spike, the ones who are determined find the original calls.

I work from home. I have an industrial size food grinder that I use to prepare buckets of fresh raw ground meat for dogs that I home deliver. I mix the meat with crushed brown rice.
I grind cows,sheep,kangaroos,goat and expired laying hens.
The dogs are mentally stable, tumor free and liver/kidney disease free in comparision to
those that eat can or pellet food (so the vet. that looks after the local greyhound racing club tells me) and from my own experience with my own dogs.

As of rite now, I sit at home reading these forms. Can't find any work. I usually work construction (concrete) but I can't even get a job as a grocery bagger. No one is hiring.

Finished most of my major & minor at Bible College this past May... I'll be taking the last 3 or 4 Gen Ed classes in the Spring, and possibly some entry level medical classes just for the fun of it. In the meantime, I provide customer service for a bank that supports over for 450 colleges & universities across the US, which equals out to about 2.6 million student & faculty account holders. It's a fun job which I actually really enjoy!

Land Surveyor here too............ finding an old stone, bearing tree, or rotted oak post is like treasure every day! Friday in the deep swamp, alone, had to cut a tree down to cross a creek to find a corner. Two hours to get there and find it, 5 seconds to hit the GPS button and get the number.

I am an archaeologist who has had it with walking lines across federal lands in preparation for oil and power lines, and mapping 100 year old "historic can scatters" that I know are loaded with trade tokens and Seated coins, but all we do is inventory and "analyze" cans and glass, which are the only artifacts remaining on the surface due to their own surface area, relative density, and the homogenization and particle size of the matrix. Basically it is irrelevant academic methodology that is a complete waste of time, money, fun, and potential.

And so now I am enrolled in the local school with an emphasis on creative writing, I am getting extremely active with local grassroots political groups using my professional experience as a means of getting in, I write stories and listen to Rhapsody, I detect, and I plan on starting as much trouble as I can for the establishment using the internet, rhetoric, and proxy servers as much as possible. Oh, and also mass exposure of that filthy 50 year ARPA rule.

None of this pays squat, and getting anything done that requires people working together is next to impossible.
