Again I can't post as much in the summer as we don't have wifi at the campground we stay at, so here are some of the Boy Scout finds from one camp in Wi that me & a buddy got permission to hunt this year. The kids come from the Chicago area & this camp was started in 1927.

If anyone knows what the box is from in the last photo please let me know,

    Chris

Oh MAN, THIS deserves a "Borat"

Never knew the scouts used 9mms... laughing7

You need to get this stuff together in a display form.

And I THINK the box is a matchbox...

On the box guys, I don't believe it was ment to be opened on the end like it is, cuz it really isn't hinged or anything.

Congrats on all of those great scout finds.  Scout camps are one of my favorite places to hunt, and I've been hammering a 300+ acre scout camp that has been in use since the mid 1940's for about 18 months now.

If you ever find another one of these items (see circled item in your photo below), check the hole very carefully, as there should be a tiny sterling silver arrow in the hole near this item which hooked to a shirt button.  There would have been a ribbon between the button hole loop, and the sterling arrow.  I've found two of these button hole loops, and in each case I found the sterling arrow.  It is TINY, so you need to check carefully with an electronic probe if you have one.

    Happy hunting,

    Jim

I know what you are talking about, the friend I detect with found what you pointed out. Good point you make by checking the hole with a probe.

I think your box might be a match safe.  Does it have a rough surface on one of the edges or back.  Like a fingernail file kind of surface, that you would strike a match on?

I know you said the end piece looks like it shouldn't open but perhaps it did.  It looks like there is a rough surface on the inside of that strip of metal.  Hard to see in your photo but I think I see it in the close up.

Match safes given out for advertising were quite common in the good old days.  Lots of smokers and lots of match boxes.  The box looks the right size to hold matches.  I'm sticking with my analysis.

Wow. Great finds. I have been a Boy Scout leader for 27 years now and collect scouting items. You found a great spot. My dad hunted an old camp that closed in the 50's and he found three shoe boxes full of stuff. Made me jealous because I couldn't go. You got the right info on that pocket ring. There is a very small arrow that was attached with a ribbon. It can very easily be overlooked as it is very small but a pinpointer should find it. You have a wide variety of collectibles there. Again congatulations on a super find.

Rando is right, you need to put together a display case or three for this collection.  Very cool.
