Out of curiousity.. what is the single most valuable coin you've pulled from circulation or paid face value for?
Mine was a 1921 Peace Dollar I got years ago... As for best in pennies: 1922 Canadian Penny low mintage As for best in halves: None more than silver content value ... Never gotten a Barber in 10 years of searching. (Updated 2/16/10 - did find a 1901 very worn Barber two weeks ago (AG-03)) As for best in dimes: 1927-S in VF condition As for best in nickels: Don't search nickels As for best in quarters: Don't search quarters
Notables although not extremely rare or valuable (all circulated) 1892 Columbian Expo Half Dollar 1986-S Ellis Island Half Dollar 1994-D World Cup Half Dollar 1992-S Olympics Half Dollar

Here is my 1938d in at least Fine condition. When I found it I posted it here and the title was something like "My meager finds" as I found this and maybe a few 40%'rs. Right off the bat someone said check your red book and sit down (or something like that from what I remember)

Pennies... 1992-D close AM unsure of its value as I can't find one for sale, but judging by the PCGS prices I did ok...
Also 1924-D and 1914-S pennies, 1909 VDB(x5?) and a few others I am forgetting about as I am just doing this from memory.
nickels... 1950-D(x2), 1883 No Cents V Nickel
dimes... nothing particularly valuable though I have found a couple barbers.
quarters... nothing particularly valuable some from the 30's and a 1958 that is pretty low mintage if I remember right.
halves... a couple barber halves, 1970-D, and a couple of earlier walkers that I don't remember the date of, but not as rare as 1938-D from what I remember.
dollars... nothing to speak of...all Ikes or newer.

Hi all, I used to own a bulk vending(gumball machines) business and found quite a few silver quarters. The best was a 32s in vf condition. The were several other silver coins in that machine that day so I think some kid got into his dads collection and bought gumballs! Regards, 3xflyfisher

Most valuable. Possibly a wrong planchet error. I found a quarter that is wrong diameter, wrong weight, wrong material, wrong thickness, and the reeding is screwed up. Could be a worthless counterfeit.
1939D nickel in sweet condition (a couple steps).
My wife found a 1912 V nickel with a mint mark. I can't tell if it's the S or not though. Should I nick-a-date it?
Kindest regards, Kantuck

Got an 1884-O Morgan silver dollar at face value from a tellers tray on June 6, 2009. Also have gotten a 1946-D Booker T. Washington commemorative half and a 1952 George Carver/Booker T. Washington commemorative half both in the same roll. Last but not least, I got a 1946 Walking Liberty Double Die reverse in a complete roll of Walkers I got in May 2007. A coin dealer told me it's worth about $50.

Nice Find.. I have yet to get a low mintage early commemorative.. Weak strike but looks to be in AU/low MS condition too... Sometimes I just want to quit (meager finds of late) but seeing finds like that incourages me to continue. Please tell you got that in a roll from a ordered box.

I don't know if its the most expensive or the best - but it was exciting to me.
It was 4 quarters (someone was paying me with quarters), and 4 were proofs - still shiny, still had the raised brush "frosting". And no bag marks, I think she just took them out of a collection. I had them graded and sold 2, kept 2.
