U.S ARMY Button Solved

Heres a Horstmann WWI Great Seal button with an unusual attachment back and another that says * US ARMY *  
Does anybody know anything about the thin brass US Army button? It may have been used in WWI according to my research, but does anyone know at what age they stopped using this button?

There is NO way that could be a fly button.


That would have to make the fly like 5 feet tall, and the biggest fly I have ever seen was like 1/2".... TOPS.
And besides, they don't wear PANTS.

The great seal button has what is known as a ring attachment.  Ring attachments are still used on some uniforms today but yours is WW1'ish.   The other I would guess is for a suspender or a fly button as already stated. 

[BCH, I found one of these last week, and already did the research. Two types of buttons were found on the pants. The main button reads "US ARMY" (like yours) while the fly buttons read "USA." They were made by the Krieger, Frankel Co. of New York, and were contracted on March 18, 1918. I believe these buttons were officially in use from 1913 to 1920, and the two sizes were 0.55" (fly) and 0.68" (suspender).
