Posted Jul 24, 2009, 08:01:01 pm

found somthing interesting. got a  strong quarter signal at 4 inches.
out popped a tarnished quarter, no........the pic was wrong. pic of 9th  pres. william harrison.
on the back is a brief story of his 31 day presidency.
the only date on the coin is 1841.

it was found just a few blocks from the courthouse in wayne wv.  on private property(with permission)

does anyone know much about these.

will post pic in the morning.

   thanks,

Looks like one of those Shell gasoline tokens that were given away a few years ago...

I agree.
I remember the Shell tokens from the late 60s; others remember the tokens from the 70's--perhaps a different series. Either way, the 1841 date signifies only Harrrison's year in office as the President.

Looks as if it's from one of the presidential commemorative or so-called "presidential data" series issued around 35-50 years ago.  Some were given away at gas stations, others at banks, and I believe some were also used as prizes in boxes of breakfast cereal.  Later, they were also sold in sets or albums in gift and hobby shops.
