So I take my kid to the neighborhood bank to show him about CRH (he's 6, so anything Dad does is still cool).  I ask for halves and the teller says she's sorry but she does not have any.  I glance into her tray as I have made a habit of doing and notice four silver dollars.  I can see the top one is a very well kept Peace Dollar.  The rims of the other three are also silver so I assume they are as well.  I ask her if I can buy the silver dollars and she replies that someone "has already called for these".  I grovel a little with no luck and walk out of the bank feeling dejected.

I had not made it a habit of even asking for dollars in the past as they are so rare.  Now I am reconsidering this approach.  I still believe the silver is out there.  I hope the rest of you don't give up.  People clean out dresser drawers all the time.  I don't know if I will ever get a shot like that again, but it does provide some hope.

Good luck to all,

OWS

The other somebody is probably her. Too bad she can't just put them in her drawer to save you the heartache.

this was tried on me once. I simply asked for the manager and told him I have been with this bank for 50 years and know for a fact that if those coins are in view they are there for my convienence to buy,. though I had to buy all of them in that rack. Seems one of the tellers was saving them for someone else (her hubby) she can t put a grip on them till they clear their drawers. So in my book Hubby can get off his dead a$$ and stand in line like the rest of us.So next time just buy them all and take back the clad to the next teller.

and she replies that someone "has already called for these".
That happened to me one time but it was several rolls of halves.

She said are you the one who called? Quick thinking I said yes and then I thanked her for holding them for me. Cheesy

I'm going to remember that advice.  Thanks Cyberdan!
