I took an hour this morning to do a quick once over of the site Ironhorse and I hit this week.  At least I know that we didn't clean the field out.  I was pleased with the condition but I wish the age was a little better although I am happy with the 1859 Canada LC.

Your 1859 is in very nice shape, it has a nice patena to it. Kinda makes you wonder how it was missed last time out, those coins give a nice loud signal.

when we finished off the other day, we both had an Indian head cent within 30 seconds of each other, plus there was truly lots of targets left on that little patch. you got lots of hunts left in that field buddy!

even some century old finds have a history and relevance to our activity, plus you might score a stray from the original site on the hill, you're usually lucky enough to find it, maybe I'll have to show it to you when I dig it up, either way, still, a great place to detect,,!

The little patch is where the wheatie and small cent came from.  The LC and buttons were on the original site on the hill and the musketballs came from near the barn/house...yep, lot's of hunting yet!

Very sandy soil...and no fertilizer with the exception of the odd cow or horse plop!

Nice finds Romeo. That copper is a beauty...

It seems that many old copper coming out of sandy soil retain a pretty good condition.

There was a previous post I remember reading, sandy soil... somewhere in the Carolinas, and his coin was in great shape too.  thumbsup HH!
