    Hello!

Went out detecting today ~ it rained early in the day, but the rain stopped and it made for a perfect day to dig some treasures!  Here's what I found today:

    1918-S Mercury Dime
    1919 Mercury Dime
    1929-S Buffalo Nickel
    1943-S War nickel
8 wheat cents dating from 1919 to 1956
    4 clad quarters
    17 clad dimes
    2 modern nickels
    58 memorial cents

I took pic's of the coins & token before and after I cleaned them up.  These Merc dimes are my silver coins #90 & #91 for the year.  My goal is to beat my silver count from last year ~ I dug 104 silver coins in 2008.  I only need to dig 14 more by Dec 31 to beat it!

This trade token is one I've never seen before!  It's about the same size as a US one cent.  One side reads, SALES PREMIUM - 2 1/2 c - DR. WEST'S PRODUCTS ONLY, and the other side reads, REDEEMABLE IN CASH - NOT GOOD AFTER JULY 31st 1933 - THE WESTERN CO. CHICAGO.

    Thanks for looking!
    Neil

Great finds as usual, Neil.  I also love the token.  How cool that you don't need to do any research on it to figure out how old it is?

I still haven't learned the nickel sound.  Following the cursor position on my Ex2 is an effort in futility, so I just avoid the mid range conductors and leave the big honking gold rings to the next guy.

    THANKS!

Yeah, tokens are the cream of the crop!  I didn't know much about 'em until I started detecting.  I've been a coin collector since I was 8 years old ~ finding coins is great ~ but sometimes the other stuff is more exciting!
