Inside the band the mark says 14k p  .
Does that mean 14k gold plated?

I also found a platinum ring. Inside the band it says...Plat
I'm wondering if that would be pure platinum or are the different grades of Plat like gold ?
Also there is a number next to where is says Plat. The number is 850. What does the number mean? Is it the weight? If so, what unit of measure is it?

    Thanks alot !  14k p  means 14k plumb. Which means it's precisely 14k.

The number 850 on my Plat ring means it's 85% pure

thanks folks. I spent 3 years researching gold nugget hunting online. Bought the minelab sd 2200 for that reason. Went out many times with no luck.
Turnes out the minelab is great for finding gold jewlery.
