Stronghold Patent

At first thought it was a button. Looks more like a earring or brooch snap. Thought it was interesting that word 'Patent' on the piece. Any idea of age?

I found one just like it last week at the site I found the 8 reales.
That site had people on it for atleast a 100 years.
I'm guessing an early 1900's button.

I think you're right on the age. Would fit well with location I found mine.

The hole you see takes a tiny metal rod to clamp in to the fabric.  They are used as replacements for blue jeans and other heavy work.

so is it 1974?

Didn't even notice the patent date 1974. I do think the ID is correct being a denim button. Actually there was a stronghold denim brand. According to this link 'the stronghold' was founded in Los Angeles in 1895 and remained in business until it's closure in 1949. Revived in 2004.
