A couple of weeks ago I went to dump at one of my banks near the Rhode Island border. After dumping, I figured I'd hit a few banks in this out of the way location. Using my GPS I found a BOA which looked like an abandoned factory building. I actually thought the building was abandoned. There is only 2 tellers in this bank and no customers. So I ask for halves and one of the tellers sells me 8 rolls. The other teller who is within earshot doesn't respond to my request, so I ask her if she has any halves. She says that she has $500.00 dollars worth. Sounds like a dump to me so I tell her to give me 5 rolls. As she is giving them to me I told her that I would have taken the whole five hundred but that I don't have anything to carry them in. She says that's okay because I'm save.... then she stops in mid sentence. I grab the coin and check it out in my car. The eight rolls were all clad. The five rolls that the other teller gave me were all clad but the wrappers were dated as to the contents 1971-1973 etc. So I'm in a rush because I've got a long trip home and I'm beat. I start thinking to myself did I hear her correctly? Was she about to say she is saving those halves for somebody? What if the remaining rolls were marked 1964 ? I do a u-turn and drive back to the bank. I grab a box out of the trunk and say to the teller I found myself a box and I'll take the remainder of the halves. She says that she can't sell them to me as they are for business customers. With a smile I say " Great because I'm a business customer"! She says sorry they are for my regular business customers. So I tell her that as a business man I find it odd that BOA would provide half dollars to a business, and especially so in handrolls. She says that these are Fed rolls. So I say, Oh, you mean the ones that come in the purple wrappers? She replies yes, the ones with the purple wrappers. I tell her have a nice day and leave. I made two mistakes. I should have taken the $500.00 right away, but then again she probably would not have sold them to me. The second mistake I made was not telling her that Fed rolls are not rolled in purple wrappers you lying sack of sh... Eating humble pie leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I would have preferred it if the teller had bluntly told me that she can't sell me the coins because they are silver and her husband collects them(that's happened plenty of times). That's okay with me. It's the lying I can't stand.

Had an nice little experience like this on Saturday. I swing by a bank that typically saves halves for me when they get them and gives me a call. Well I figure its been a while since I have been in there so I would swing by and see what they had. Walk in and there are two tellers I had never seen before. A man and a large redheaded lady. I walk up to the lady and ask if they had halves. She says she does and proceeds to pull out about 8-9 dollars of loose ones. She starts going through them right in front of me and pulls all the silver ones out. I speek up and say I would like to buy them all. She then separates out the clad, plops it down on the counter and puts the silver back in her tray. There were 4-5 of them. I tell her I would like those again and she tells me she is saving them for another customer who had called this morning and was going to pick them up... Ok, its 11AM and the bank closes in an hour. I would think if someone had called and specifically asked her to save the silver for them, they would have picked them up already. I tried to use the, well your other teller saves halves for me and I would like those also line with her. I could tell this b**ch was cherrypicking for herself and gave me a nice little line about another customer. I was really ticked not just because I didnt get the silver but I knew she was telling me a boldface lie. I wont lie, I would still be pissed if she had just came out and said, I am keeping these, but giving me the other customer blah blah blah really pissed me off more. I wish I had a account at this bank because she would have opened the line this morning with $1500 in skunk rolls in her tray.

One bank teller sold me 10 rolls, all in new wrappers and dated - as I looked at the dates she says "Yeah, it gets real boring around here and I do stupid things to keep my sanity..." All in solid date rolls or a "mixed" roll.

i'm with you Rich. they think we are stupid or something. i have been tempted in the past to challenge them. thier should be a rule that if its in your tray the customer gets them. after all it doesn't belong to them. they should buy it off the bank and save them for the other person out of sight. why do they always wait until someone asks for them and then cherrypick them right in front of you like your blind. i love the line "i can't sell these to you". like they can pick and choose what you can and can't have. just once i would love for one of them to come to my place of business so i can give them the business

I have not and will not step foot in the BofA in my town since they refused to sell me a penny box over a year and a half ago.

You will kill yourself thinking about what could have been. The fact of the matter is what goes in someones private stash may very well end up in one of your pick up banks one of these days. You may have missed this time but a big score will come.

I don't really care about the "big score". I was happy to get a single 64 out of my last six boxes, and if I skunked,"Oh Well" I'll try again next week. I actually get a thrill reading about other peoples scores. I really do ! The road trips, although they can be lucrative, have been eating up too much of my time. Plus I've gotten to the point where I can't listen to another line of BS from a teller or watch them pull a switcheroo on me. So for a while, I'm going to do a few boxes a week, dump a few coins, CRH the easy way and enjoy myself. Then in a few weeks or months maybe I'll hit the road again. We'll see HH Rich

Maybe you should open an account there and make it your new dump bank!

Maybe you should open an account there and make it your new dump bank! Already have an account there. One of the tellers did give me rolled coin just happened to not have silver. It was the other teller that was holding out. If another CRH hits that bank and gets the nice teller he may score. If I dump there someone else will be picking up my dumps.
