Detector used Detector(s) Used - XLT & Bigfoot

Last night I saw the History Channel's Jesse James Treasure program.
http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal...s-on-history-channel_100272744.html
This a short description of the documentary. It was mostly reenactment of Jessie's crime spree and some actual looking for his treasure. I can not tell if the modern day treasure hunters were reinacting treasure hunting also.

They do not seem to know how to use a metal detector. It looked like a cheap Garret in one scene and a Whites in another. I never saw them using headphones and the Garret was way to high off the ground. They did find gold and silver dollars, but I could tell they do not know how to dig. They just kept poking in the hole with their digger, I am sure scratching up everything. Then when they pulled out a mud caked $20 gold piece they just brushed off the mud with their fingers. That just scratched it up some more. It was a two hour program and in the end did not find a treasure trove but kept you hooked till the last three minutes and would it up in a hurry.

At the end of the program, they used heavy equipment to dig a hole hill side to find nothing. Who were these people and how long have they been detecting?
