Hello fellow CRHers

When sorting the copper pennies do you roll them or just store them loose in containers?

I'm just starting out but so far I just put them in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.

I think a 5 gallon bucket would hold about 250 or 300 dollars worth of pennies.

That's a whole lot easier than rolling them IMO.

I store them loose in the penny boxes from the bank.  I used to fill them up, but now I fill them to a little below the top.  That is about $20 loose of pennies per box.  Then I stack the boxes (NOt on a shelf, because of weight, but on the floor).  I have about ... 2,400 pounds ($3500 plus) right now in the garage.  Not a problem though in the boxes.

I don't get pennies that often, so when I have time, I roll my coppers. I have about $55; who knows, it might sell a little better when it's rolled  dontknow

Hi,

I guess I'm a neat freak or have OCD.  I started out sorting all my copper pennies by year and mint mark, rolling them and storing them in the original boxes.  After filling a box of 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's, I decided that was crazy, so now I am only sorting by decade, rolling them, and putting them back in the boxes.
I'm not in the big leagues.  I only have a little more than $200 worth.

8,900 pennies to a sandbag & 2 sandbags to a 5 gallon bucket with a sealed lid = $178.00 = 120 lbs.

Thanx CHRers

Think i will do mostly loose and then some rolled in case it is easier or gets more money to sell.

I roll all mine since I have the time. I feel it stores nicer and its easier to count rolls to take inventory.
