LA MARQUE, Texas (AP) -- A man blamed a low-flying pelican and a dropped cell phone for his veering his million-dollar sports car off a road and into a salt marsh near Galveston. The accident happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the frontage road of Interstate 45 northbound in La Marque, about 35 miles southeast of Houston.

WOW... who the heck "accidentally" drives a VEYRON into a marsh??!!! I think someone is trying to cover up something else, more than just "a pelican & a cell phone"!! He got WAY too good a distance (20 FEET!) out into that water (sideways? icon_scratch ) to have only been "distracted" by a bird, dropped his cell, and reached to pick it up, IMHO. C'mon... smells fishy...

Never trust a pelican talking on a cell phone...will drive you into the brink everytime.

Did they take a breathalizer test?

Maybe he just bought it a week ago and it was about to run out of gas.
He probably didn't know where to fill it up or figured he was too rich to do it himself.
Probably figured if he trashed it he could get a replacement with a full tank for the next week.

Can you say it's NOW a clunker?

The news reported this and said that the engine was running for at least 15 minutes after it went in the water and then stopped. They also said it was in salt water. Too bad.

I hate to be the one to point this out... but I'm pretty sure the fin on the back automatically retracts out when the car is accelerating at high speeds.... Roll Eyes
