Detector used Detector(s) Used - Fisher F5 w/11"coil

Posted Nov 14, 2009, 04:22:01 pm

I just bought a 11" DD Coil for my F5, I was wondering where on the coil do you get a read out or hit. Is it on the top, middle or bottom of the coil as you look down on it when in position, Im trying to understand and get a better feel for my machine and get little better detecting targets, since I have only had  for a month.

The sweet spot on the coil on mine is below the circle imprint in the plastic coil housing about an inch in front the connecting rod.  It is not as pronounced as the stock coil when listening to your target.  The DD has more even coverage from head to toe of the coil.   I have seen where some people will but an orange dot on the small circle imprint on the DD to aid in pinpointing.

Hope this helps

Bob
