Is this a button. If so is it old?  dontknow Just realized I had it. Dug it earlier today with other old artifacts.

My guess would be a button, not that old.  dontknow The pattern on top is making me want to think its old. Looks like it had a gold plating at one point. So 1900's civilian button. Anyone agree?

Hey Guys I'm going to pput my two cents in. I hope that's ok I think the button is a mid 1800's flower button. Mainly because of the detail and how heavy the gilt is. The flower button were civilian buttons but we dig a lot of them in civil war camps. the came in a lot of different sizes and designs and could have either brass or tin backs. I'm attaching a pic of a similar one with a SC button that I dug in the same hole earlier this year.
