As you know I am no expert just a river dog like you. I would think someone would have seen it. The river dogs do not miss to much now days. From what I have learned basil thinning is key which from the one picture I do not see.. but do see is they were possibly setting up a step platfrom to drive off the flute but maybe saw something  or experience  said nope not gonna drive off that flute and that was it. But still should have ground that base.
From the Gault site,  page 77 resembles the stages of reduction on a point like yours. Its a pdf file. Check it out you to UNI for the blades.

If this is what i think
 banner bar maybe.
Lets see what some experts say ?
Nice one Jamey. I have been meaning to write you I need you to do some river hunts with me. Hope you can swim  laughing7

It looks like it MAY HAVE BEEN a little Cumberland that was snapped off and the blade re-based. Especially as you'd expect the waist to have flared back out to the ears, and it doesn't.

thanks tn and uni face.i think uni face is right, someone was trying to rework the base and maybe refluted the one side.the flute dosent seem as worn on the other side, too me anyway.when i frist looked at it i thought someone was trying to make a clovis point out of a cumberland point.that couldnt be right ,right? jamey

Depending on where you hunt, they can be very scarce. I congratulate you on those points. Middle Ga. was not very kind to paleo people.
