I haven't posted in awhile. I kinda got tired of it. I thought I would post these finds however. They are the last finds this year from my friend and I's site. We will return next year as the weather allows. First up -trade silver!     Also some nice trade knives--with small cut copper point   Thanks for looking! |

Any relics, coins, or other items appearing in my finds posts were found on PRIVATE PROPERTY with total consent and permission from the owners of said property.
Scrap IRON recovered and recycled since March 2008: 2660 lbs.

Very nice finds there and welcome back! Interesting brooch. Never seen one like that. I like the earring or ear bob and it is also different than what I have seen. One half of the cartouche knife handle, complete is always nice. I hope you find the other half next year. If you do, match it up with a cross L knife and she will be complete. I just found the exact piece about 3 days ago!
I would like to look up the brooch and earring in my books. Do you know anything about them?

Sorry,I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to trade goods.What you see is all I know.The ear bob is unique as is the large brooch. Any info. you could find would be very helpfull. My friend thought it was interesting that the brooch appears modified. It looks as if some of the points were removed--leaving thirteen. Could it have a patriotic meaning?The hallmark appears to be a capital I, It could however be a worn L.Thanks. |

What a great hunt to end the season for you. I can't imagine digging all that in one hunt, must have a post site no doubt!!

The copper cut triangle could be a tinkler pre-form. Find quite a few of them.

Great finds and it's encouraging to see that today these items are being properly ID.
Years ago I dug them and threw the knives away thinking they were simply somebody's old dinner knives.
Then one day I got interested and checked one out.
