Hey everyone,

Vp here, well Paco and I stumbled onto a colonial site of some sort that produced some incredible results.  The first day we walked away with 5 colonial coins, the second day when John joined us we had another 5.  Here are my coins, buttons and such from the hunt.

The first pic is of the amazing Machin's Mills Half Penny with the NJ overstrike
(already posted here http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,283297.0.html) I sent it off to Don in Jersey today for some of his friends to evaluate.

post200-05.jpg

The second pic is a 1729 KGII  (my oldest coin yet with a date - i nearly dropped over !)

post200-02.jpg

In the third pic you can clearly see a harp with a crown (not sure what this is ??)

post200-03.jpg

The fourth pic is a KG III with a smaller sized head (again no idea)

post200-04.jpg

The fifth pic is of some colonial's that can't be identified as of yet (they're headed to the tumbler) and some buttons

post200-01.jpg

Very fun weekend !  Thanks for looking.

1729 is probaby a cast counterfeit, and unknown is a young head type George III counterfeit Hibernia, shame it's not better. 3rd coin is also looks like a  countefeit and worth matching against m.mills to see if you have another.

I'm as dirty as I look!

You guys had a killer weekend, Kevin! headbang  The other seven coppers would make for a great year...and then you topped it off with the Machins Mills you found. headbang  I hope Don and his friends can determine if it is a one-of-a-kind!! icon_sunny

The 1729 cast counterfeit is interesting.  I found my cast counterfeit 1700 William III halfpenny not too far away.  I wonder if there was an illegal counterfeiting operation going on around there?  There probably was not, but you just never know.

Good luck on your future hunts there, Kevin!  I smell a Spanish silver! thumbsup

Great finds, Kevin!  That is definitely a nice, early site you found... would be curious to know what went on there back in the colonial days.

Congrats on the KG II

What a site Kevin. You and Rob should find some more there. And with the 2 Jerseys and the Irish half penny found there it is worth going back multiple times. Keep us all informed. thumbsup
