I know things are slow, the economy is bad...etc....
But my employer just told our biggest customer...our bread and butter, that he would not reduce his rates by 10% and buy any new equipment to keep our position with them.
We have a competetor in the same place we are and they have already reduced their rates twice and have newer equipment which is more efficient.
At one time, our company virtually had all the work where we were. Now we have none.
So let me see.....it's better to NOT have any money at all comming in than to reduce your rates some to keep a cash flow going???

If...and that's a BIG IF...my employer could see that our line of business is fairly recession proof,(we do environmental work for a steel mill), he'd take a small concession to maintain our place in the mill.
But...guess he got his and he's not worried about us.
What sucks worst.....even though I am officially out of work...I am still on a 24 hour emergency call-out list. I can be called at 2am to go clean up a spill at a furnace and then go right back to being unemployed. Can't refuse work while you're unemployed...no matter how rediculous it is. And God forbid I don't answer that ringing phone in the middle of the night.
With businessmen like him...no wonder the economy is so messed up.
