To further clarify on your coin, it is a Type 3 (Right hand on knee, date in exregue) and I think it looks like 1700 for a date. Type 3 is 1699-1701 time frame.
By the way, that is a lot of detail left on that copper for a William III, most are worn smooth or nearly smooth on the Reverse and Righthand side of Obverse usually worn away, so you got a good one for that series of Halfpence.

my mistake, I see the 1700 & the Britannia has right hand on knee. I guessed the most likely (1695-98) & got it wrong. So 1700 This issue is 1699-1701.

Nice find from your side of the water 16?? all right I'm amazed at the dates given on something thats unlegable SS Its not the visibility of the date that gives it away, its the type (right hand on knee) which start in 1699. As you say 16??, so has to be 1699, look carefully & you can see the tops of the 99 (look a bit like the 00 we thought we saw earlier). The earlier type has right hand in air.

Nice find from your side of the water 16?? all right I'm amazed at the dates given on something thats unlegable SS The coin matches exactly a 1699 in my 1965 British Copper Coins Book. The original photos hard to say, but the date looked more like 00 at the end, but it was said, that is a Type 3 reverse which only were dated 1699-1701. The period immediately following the A in BRITTANIA also matches it being a 1699, the 1700 ones the period is further away. The photo I included shows the 3 Types of Reverses which help date the William III coppers....
