Detector used Detector(s) Used - White MXT

Posted Nov 23, 2009, 04:37:31 pm

Braved the cold today & went out for a few hours. Hit a house that was built in the 30's and found 12 wheat's the oldest being 1920 & no key dates. Finally got a solid dime signal and pulled out the 1935  s merc, then a 44 & 45. While in the back of the house I had a iffy signal and dug, thought I had my first 2 center but could not tell so I headed home to clean it up. All there is on the coin is 5c on both sides no date nothing. the script looks old & at first I thought it was a play coin, but the ones I have found in the past say play money or something on them. The rim is edged & it is about the same size & weight as a nickle, any ideas?

The other items in the pics are a 1907 barber I found a week ago & had to hook it up to the battery charger to clean it up, then there is a 1935 Utah deer tag, & another silver ring.

Congratulations on the silvers. The 5 coin, what does the script say? Could be a trade token.

For me to find two silver in the same day is great, most of the town has been hunted many times. I still find a few here & there so I keep at it.

Great finds, congrats!!!......I would have to say that the "5" coin would be an early form/style of play money, could be very collectible.......I was leaning towards trade token but I would think it would also have some sort of business or establishment on it if it was......

HH all!
