Metal Detectorist Makes First Bottle Find

Found this bottle on the beach in South Florida while metal detecting.

All of the markings seem to be at the base. Any info as to age what is was for where it came from and commonality would be appreciated.  I thank you all in advance.

It appears to say across the base SALVITAE.

At one point circling the base it appears to say AMERICAN.

Some words that can't be made out and possiably the word APOTHECANO.


Some ruff dimensions I took from the bottle.

Total Height:  5.75 inch

Base Diameter: 2.0 inch

Internal Mouth Diameter:  .85 inch

Max Opening at Mouth:  1.35 inch

Length of  “Neck” to very top:  1.25 inch

That's a beautiful bottle. Congrats on a very neat find. wish I could provide some info on the identity but some resourceful person here on TNET is bound to find you an answer.

Can you see a mold mark on the side? If it goes all the way up to the very edge of the top the bottle was made after 1920 or so. I'm thinking that's the case but can't really tell from the pics.

"SALVITAE" American Apothecaries Co. New York, fairly common cobalt piece, looks like ABM as evidenced by precise thin round groove on the base, seen in some machine made pieces.  Nice display piece.

Really really close but I think the bottle found is a bit older than the one in the link  because the one in the link has a ring on the nteck below the cap.

After some examination I can see a mold mark running the length of the bottle "edit" of it appears to be post 1920 still a neat find in my book.  Thanks for your help vayank54!

Either way there is no doubt it brought me smile and keeps me moving forward.
