How long does it usually take for a coin to go from concept to actual minting to distribution ?? I'm figuring it takes a while, would there be any way to check for sure ?? Doesn't a new design have to be approved by congress ?? Just a question out of curiosity.

I noticed that no-one really utilizes all the signature space provided, so I figured to be REALLY original I would make up the longest signature that I could and probably just leave it as one big run on sentence because all that punctuation just takes up way too much space-HH.

It can be a lenghty process, and sometimes there's two designers of one coin, one for the front and one for the back. It's true that Congress approves the design and it's mintage, and it takes an act of Congress for the mint to produce any US coin. However, there's no set time line, but usually a design is accepted within a year's time before it's produced.

We have been known to do it in just a few days....http://www.youtube.com/user/jewelerdave#p/a/u/2/B1gr4XncqBQ

Fortunately. as a private mint. we don't have to go though the Politically Correct BS, and can make anything we want. No matter how cool, cheesy, or politically disturbing!
