We need the regular posters to step up and become charter members. This site cost a mere $.054 cents a day, that is 5 and 1/2 pennies a day....Even on my worst day of hunting I find more then that.....That is very little to pay to have access to the vast amount of knowledge that can either be read here, or available though some of the many knowledgeable TN members....
When you find something and you don't know what it is, or if it is old or real, where do you go to find out? You come here and ask. (old button, is this an artifact, as example.)
If TN is sold there could and most likely will be major changes that will affect all of us, and the changes that come could be in very negative ways. There are other treasure websites, I have been to most of them, but none like TN in my personal opinion....
I personally thing Marc should move some of the features available to non Charter members to Charter membership. No post count available or visible till your a Charter member as example for starters.........It can continue to count as posts are made, just not visible till your a Charter member.
Make the cost of Charter Membership $2.50 a month or $20.00 a year, payable through Paypal or Credit Card...............
Not trying to step on anyone toes here, I just don't want to see major changes in the best Treasure Website on the net is all............

Do you expect everything including this site to be free? I am asking for people to join as Charter members to help keep TN as it is, the best Treasure Site on the net.
I also think they should move some of the features now available to non-charter members to Charter Only........

Not stirring anything up. TN site is up for sale, Charter Members are trying to see if we can stop the sale, one of the ways is by getting more members to become Charter Members. We are trying to help Marc, and in turn help ourselves, we do not want to see TN sold. 5.5 cents a day is not too much to ask for all this site has to offer..................

I became a chartermember only to support a good detector site.
In my opinion its like supporting something that is good for you mental health, to prevent it from going away. The minute i dont like it in here, i will stop my small payment. In the internetworld there is alot of different sites, but for me this is the very best place to be.
The reason for me writing this, is because i have never had any problem donating to a good cause, in this case treasurenet.
So i will stick my head out and say yes to support this site.
Remember the old saying: You dont know what you got until its gone.
Excuse my english if its full of writing errors, english is not my first language.
Thank you
Trond K

KK,
You don't want to be a Charter Member to help support TN that is your business, don't join, I am not trying to talk you into it.
We are just seeking ways to get more members to become Charter members to help support the site and keep it private.

Understood. Just don't try to talk Mark into taking away from the rest of us. That wouldn't be helping you. KK, I am not trying to help me, we are trying to Help TN and Marc....Contributing to TN helps TN, which is why we became Charter Members to begin with, to help support TN.......

Way to go Mentalfloss, by doing so you are helping TN, and helping to keep it the way it is, private not owned by one of the manufactors or a group that cares nothing about what TN is.. Don't think if TN is sold that there want be lots of changes.............

KK, it is obvious you don't want to join, that is your business, you don't want to contribute 5.5 cents a day to help support TN that is your call.
I am simply trying to get members to become Charter Members to help support TN and keep TN private.
As far as the post counts, making the post counts visible as part of Charter Membership was simply an example of a way to increase the Charter Membership. I personally don't care about my post count, but I have seen newbie after newbie post single words just to try to increase their count and some have even admitted it. If a newbie says hey, how do I get my post counts to show and someone replies "become a charter member" not all will, but many would become Charter Member just for that feature, that helps TN more.
What have they really gained, not much, just a simple counter, what have I lost if you take mine away, not much just a simple counter, all the information is still here and available to everyone................The more income that is generated the less reason Marc has to seek a sale.
Any suggestions I ever make are strictly suggestions. I am only one Charter Member, I have no power at all. Marc will do what Marc feels is best to do, it is his site, and a private site at that. Small things can make a big difference in revenue...........

Treasure_Hunter it looks like some folks feel guilty or offended in some other way. Just remember that there are a lot of us out here who are charter members and will keep our membership up. Just the way some of us work, you know kinda like paying your own way.

Treasure_Hunter, another nice thing about the way Marc has the site set up is the "Ignore User" button. So you don't even have to see the posts by those people who only want to snipe at others.

KK what ever reasons you choose not to be a member is your reasons.
We shall continue to seek new members, I already know of 2 new memberships today so that helps.
ThTx thanks for the support and your continued membership and support of TN as a Charter Member................. I bought my Charter August 19, 2006, 3 weeks after finding this site in July because I felt I should help support such a great site through more then just posting my finds, asking a question or giving my opinion............

Beachboy, It is only by paypal now that I know of, but here is what I can do. I have paypal, if your comfortable to send me a walmart pr postal money order, I will deposit it in my paypal account, and I will order the Charter Membership in your name. You would need to IM me your contact information as well as the name you used to register for TN if it is different then the name displayed. I have already given out a Charter Membership as a Christmas gift to another member this way..... I think you will find there are members here who will vouch for me.......

Now, now KK, Treasure Hunter is only doing what he and others believe in to get more members in as Charter Members. The Search feature alone is worth the tiny amount of money spent on a Charter Membership. Say you want to find info on a certain coil or scoop, you can do a search on it and all the posts that are relevant show up. Taking away features for none supporting guests is one way to get them to participate if they wish to enjoy all the benefits the site offers. Other sites offer more features to full members. I only hope no one ignores you because you have a lot to contribute to the site with your experience and friendship. Take Care, Sandman

Reading what some the charter member have to share (without the added attitute) is worth my $20. As soon as I figure out paypal I'll be sending it in.
Honestly I probably should have done this months ago.

I'm with you 100% Treasure_Hunter! This site is amazing and as Sandman said, just the Search Feature alone is worth the small price to pay to become a Charter Member. (I was about to complain about individuals using a particular site repeatedly and not feeling the need to chip in a bit for the pleasure... but that just made me realize that I'd better look more closely at my own life: I need to fork over some money to SpyBot.. my "free" Malware protection site!) Your heart was in the right place, T.H. - don't let the whiners get you down. Ruth P.S. And thanks for bring a bit of clarity to my day!

Evidently some people think the purpose of this site is to offer a free platform to spew bile and insult others. I think that if their posts get reported enough, they will get censured in some way. At least I hope they do. When someone is trying to get people to make a contribution, others can certainly disagree. However, it would be much more conducive to civilized behavior if they could learn to do so without being rude.

Any Moderators watching this thread?
Beeman, my apologies earlier for not welcoming you to TN...... Yes there are Moderators, but there are lots of boards and lots of threads so sometimes it takes awhile for someone to notice if there is a problem. On the left side below your name you will see a hot link titled "REPORT POST Nominate For Banner" you use that link to report a member, a problem, or to vote for an item someone has posted as a find if you feel the find is worthy to be placed on the Banner at the top of the site...

I will look around some more, because this site was recommended to me. But I am getting in to this hobby for fun, not agitation. If the guy who keeps insulting people is typical of Treasure Net users, I think I'll find a different forum. Thanks anyway and I wish you luck on getting more charter members. I just wonder how many you will get with this kind of abuse happening.

Good Golly something happened to all the nasty posts. Beeman, this sniping at fellow members is not tolerated here as much as it happens on other sites. I think of us as a family with the same interests. Sometimes someone goes off their meds or starts posting before having a cup of coffee and we need to over look some things---------till they go too far or often. An BTW, if I haven't welcomed you yet, consider yourself welcomed. Sandman

Back on track, TN needs more members to become Charter Members. The search feature alone makes it worth the cost. You can put the name of a city, item, or detector in the search engine and pull up every single post for it on TN............... Want to know the best beach to hunt near Orlando, Jacksonville, or San Francisco, put the city's name and words beach hunting and you will find every post made with that cities name and beach hunting. Want to know about a certain coil, put the coils name in the search and you will get every post made on TN about that coil. Help keep and support TN with your Charter Membership.......

I thought about becoming a CM, but now that you have this post I am confused. What is the future of this site? I have my own website and it is not that expensive to operate. With CM dues and advertisement income, this site should pay for itself. What is going on....

Tek, click on the settings link to the right of profile at top of this page, then click on Charter Membship link, from there you can pay via Paypal. If you don't have Paypal and don't want to get it, contact me via IM, you can send me a MO with delivery confirmation, and I will use My Paypal to sign you up. Thanks for the support of TN..................

The value of the search feature that comes with charter Membership is worth the cost alone whe you need to find information about something. You can search years of posts to find the info you need. I run gaming servers and a website myself. A simple website is easy, this one would not be. It has 10,053 page views a day on average currently, and currently averages over 1700 different vistors a day. The drive is to get more Charter Members, there are over 37212 members and only about 600 Charter Members currently, and memberships expire at different dates. There are no other treasure websites yes, but not like TN.....There are features available here that are not on the other websites. The site does not run itself, it takes servers, software programing, monitoring, search engines. There is a reason TreasureNet comes up at the top of Google when you type in Treasures and do a search, and that costs money as well. Marc has spent over 14 years building TN, he has earned the right to enjoy it. I signed up for Charter Membership over 3 years ago just 3 weeks after I joined because I felt it was right to support a site that has so much to offer, I didn't feel it was right to take advantage of all it has to offer for nothing. What is $.05 1/2 cents a day to help support the best Treasure Website on the net.................. This thread is to get new Charter Members..................

That sound great, yet I do not have payp and I do not have a credit card...I know that sounds strange... Is there anyway I can pay using a money order...or something else...I would love to support this sight...It has been great..But would like another pay option..Thanks
You can get a PREPAID VISA card at any Walmart, gas station store, or convienience store. Then use it to buy a membership. Just put your name, and the card number, etc.. Or,, they have at Walmart this GREEN DOT card that you put cash on, then put the cash from your green dot card into your paypal accnt. You can open a paypal accnt for free. skt

The owner (Marc) stated it is time for him to move on. He has other goals in life and selling the website will help obtain his goals. Both time wise and money wise #2will some cash solve this problem or just delay it?
Some cash will probably not be enough to purchase the website. Maybe a surge of Charter Membership sells would. However, the amount of memberships sold would be a unrealistic goal of several hundred to equate a goodly profit margin #3how did this happen to begin with Lack of sponsorship? lack of moderators and other volunteer staff ect. ect.
Real life happens. Nothing personal, just business $$$$ #4 has any one looked into fundraisers? (auctions of donated finds, equip ect.) or a seeded hunt? Or?
Other than a few soliciting Charter Memberships, it seems quiet That's just my take on it. Good luck to Marc.

Bucket,
I address those questions directly to miamidave when he emailed me about them, I thought I answered them, but between posts, emails, IM's and honeydos I was busy this afternoon and miss it.
Marc has spent the last 14 years building TN with his own money, time, sweat, energy, and possibly tears. He has not only built the first treasure website on the net, he has built the best treasure website on the net, and the most valuable treasure website based on a site that tracks the value of websites. The next closest website is worth one third of TN based on the website that tracks it.
Per one of Marcs posts on the Charter Member Board which you have to be a CM to read MARC left a small opening to remaining in a capacity if it was possible. Site is for sale, has been for sale for quite awhile, but site has not been sold. Additional Charter Memberships would help the site, which in turn takes some of the pressure off of Marc to sale, and could even change the future, who knows.
Marc made a post on NOV 17 on the Charter Membership board on a way to try to generate more Charter memberships. I will not post Marc post from that board as it was addressed to Charter Members except to say it was another way to try to generate more Charter Members.
Another Charter Member suggested we try to do a membership drive on the respective boards we frequent most, I post most often on the Beach forum so I made the post here........It was not meant to cause any problems, it is simply a drive to recruit members who would be willing to help treasure Net by becoming a Charter Member.
When you are a Charter member you have access to stats you do not have as a regular member. There are 10's of thousands regular members, but only apporox 2 % are charter Members. If you cut the total number of members in half, that would still only be 4% that are active Charter Members.
I personally don't see the problem in donating to help TN, I have spent countless hours here, it was through members here that I learned what I learned about detecting and especially water hunting. I would not have got the help I got in one single place except here. I would have got some help elsewhere, but not the quantity or quality I got here.
If you have a question on how to do something, what to do to fix a problem, how good or bad a certain detector is, what a certain find is, how old something is, all you have to do to find the answer is go To TreasureNet and search or ask. That to me is worth a lot, and it is worth supporting this site for that reason. The ability to search every post for an answer to a question is worth the price alone.
I was tempted to lock this thread since I started it and there is that option on my screen, and just make another thread and ask Jeff to lock it and not allow replies with a request for Charter Members and the way to become one as some did not know.....
All I was trying to do was help Treasurenet and in the process help Marc..........................

This site has been a tremendous wealth of info mation for myself. As i show i reside on an island on the southern tip of America, and all the info that comes to me on daily posts makes me wish i could be everywhere and not here because of the great times you all are having!! It is really slim pickings down this way,no real beaches,no surf to speak of,the ground is mushy clay like and the rules really stink..we have one main road and you can see up to 8 differant law agencies on any giving day, with that said i"m just an average Joe,i know i can still enjoy myself and enjoy what i do. And i enjoy boating ,fishing, speardiving, birdwatching, watching sunsets ,did i mention trolling,i don't have alot to post ,but i enjoy what i do here and what i read seems like a great place to be,i also get a tear in my eye on some of the posts...don't get me started, with that said I would like to be a charter member, not a 6 pack boat charter, but a guy who just wants to support something that seems OK. p.s. i'm dumping the cobra.....

Kudos To Treasure Hunter. Small price to pay and being a charter member has its benefits. I enjoy the Live feature. I am not sure if its available to non members?? Shows the post as they happen and its a fun way to spend some time in diffrent areas. I would have thought that Marc might have picked up on this discussion first in the Charter member area ? It is a great site for penneys a day. I have made good friends and learned a lot. I say join when you can afford it. A pay pal account is very easy to set up. Right Marc??? Happy huntin Guys TnMountains

This site is one of the best forums I have had the pleasure to post with. The last time I got off my meds and left in a huff, closed my account and used other forums where my help and two cents might be needed. One thing the other posts had were people that would always post such things as, "I heard that was a good detector." Posts just to run up the count without offering any useful information. I think it would benefit TNet to do away with the count displayed till you became a Charter Member. Many sites you have to register first before you can post or view. This could also be an option. Sorta a pay as you go thingy.

I hope to add to the charter club as soon as an extra 20 comes around. This is a good site. I belong to a fishing forum that had about 30k members. Well they could no longer afford the site fees and were forced to degrade to a lower quality site. It is almost black and white, slow, and not many features. See you soon as a charter member. Tim.

Greetings, Since I have been reading this forum for over a month now, and have gleaned a wealth of info and read about so many exciting finds..I thought it would be nice time to help the cause and become a charter member today after reading this post. Sure it's close to Christmas and $$$ are in short supply ( Hours at work cut from 55 Hrs. a week to 40). In my younger days , My Uncle got me interested in Treasure hunting..I was all Fired up !! , Then life came along..Work , marriage , kids, mortgage, car payments, more work. count me in its the least i can do for all the help i have been given on what metal detector to get. I love this site its about the only thing i have to do here in Iraq on my down time with all the story's, pic of peoples finds. I have spent $20.00 on some dumb things but this i use everyday it has endless knowledge and experts and i like it just the way it is. I am so going to become a member as soon as i post this
I used this site for a long time without paying until I wanted to search for some previose posts. But then I realized that $20 a year is a very cheap investment for what you are getting here. So I have been a Charter Member for about 6 months now. If your really into treasure hunting it really can't be beat for the money.

I don't understand a few things here. First I hope I don't get shunned from the other members. Second, Why Did Treasure Net get started in the first place.. I am thinking because The magazine E&W treasures started a forum to help promote the magazine...right? It draws people to the site which gives info and gets people to start or continue there subscriptions. Now the cost of the web site, employees, printing, internet hosting are all part of a business.....right? The the costs of this forum in the beginning are advertising costs. After time when the forum gains members company's look to also advertise on the site and PAY to do so just like adds in a magazine....Right? Look at the top of the page they are doing this now! So why should we the happy consumers, the one's bringing the valuable info to this site be asked to PAY to share our information? ?? If it really is hurting the pocket book of the owner then he should look into larger companies to advertise on the site and they will pay for it to be up here every month. What you are asking is to make this an elite club, pay here or you won't get our super duper features and info from other joes just like you. If you push this to hard folks will just move on to the next forum that is free. I think you might hurt or shoot yourself in the foot. Just take a look around at the non paying members posts and picture this what if you cutout all there posts only. What would you loose then? I would not mind more advertising on the site bring it that is why it was invented. Also this site was put here to promote a magazine in the first place. The cost of this site is an advertising expense for that magazine. If it has some value now and it sounds like the owner is considering selling this site to one of the companies that is a whole different game. Sounds like some profits are to be made and that would be the only consideration for the sell...Right? I am looking at this from a BIZZ standpoint and that is it. The honest truth is money is very very tight. I get asked or have to pay for just about everything I do now in life. If my hobby requires I have to PAY to talk to my friends about it then I guess my friend count is going to go down. I do see your are saying you don't have to now but I did read you want to cut the features down. Well hope that works out well for you. Good day to all and happy treasure hunting. I am headed out to go do some swinging and relieve some stress!!! Long as the Metal detector manufacture's don't put a pay by the hour meter on the detector with a credit card slide on the side I will be good!

I am headed out to go do some swinging and relieve some stress!!! Long as the Metal detector manufacture's don't put a pay by the hour meter on the detector with a credit card slide on the side I will be good! golddredgergold Marc's own words....Excert from "A Few Words About TreasureNet " Posted Jan 22, 2006, 07:39:28 PM "I created TreasureNet in late 1994 out of the frustration of having found a REAL buried treasure - 3 chests of gold coins, flint lock pistols, and land grants - buried by Juan Baptista de las Casas in January 1811, just outside of San Antonio Texas - but not having the resources to do a proper archaeological survey and recovery of the burials. Sadly, in late 1995, based on my research, and after having opened my big mouth to unethical historians and attorneys, the site was looted. " TreasureNet had nothing to do with E/W Treasures wanting a forum, E/W Treasures has nothing to do with TN at all other then being an advertiser, just like Whites, JW Fisher, Garrett, Kellyco and the others are advertisers. You have based everything you said on TN being funded by Western Eastern Treasures and promoting it which it is not and was not. TreasureNet was not built to promote W/E Treasures magazine or any other of the advertisers.... I respect your right to express your opinion on this, I doubt anyone would "shun" you for expressing it either, I know I don't or want.... No one is trying to force anyone to join... Below is my post from another thread on the subject........ "This is only my own personal opinion, it is very simple for me, when I believe in something, weather it is a cause or a business, I support it, and I pay my own way, it is just me, I do not just go along for a free ride.
Charter Members are like stock holders, we are paying members, we are hard revenue coming in to the site. The more Charter Members there are, the more likely our views and our opinions will be considered. If Marc is able to sell TreasureNet, any new owners are more likely to want the continued financial support of the "Stock Holders", especially if we number a thousand or more....
Anyone buying TreasureNet is going to want to make a profit, otherwise why buy it.....Marc built TreasureNet, it is his baby, his legacy so to speak, it is his dream, his time, his money, his hard work, his blood and his tears, a new buyer will have none of that invested, only cash..........
If Marc does not sell TreasureNet, the revenue coming in helps support TreasureNet and helps Marc continue with TreasureNet....He has more then earned the right to make money off this site he built it from scratch.....The more Charter Members there are the easier it is for him to continue.....
TreasureNet is the best Treasure Website on the net, it has more daily visitors then the others, it is worth more then the others.......Bottom line is when you believe in something you support it.........."Good luck on your hunt sir.

Tentpegs, Welcome to Charter Membership and thanks for showing your support for TN by becoming a Charter Member. A single magazine subscripition cost $30 or more a year, and only comes out once a month. TreasureNet averages 150-175 new articles every day, several thousand new articles every month. There were 4293 new topics in just this past December alone. TreasureNet averaged 5046 new topics every month in 2009.... $20.00 a year, $1.66 a month, $.38 cents a week, $.05 1/2 cents a day...

Coin finder, I don't know if you read it wrong or just posted it with out a decimal by mistake, its not 54 cents a day, it is .05 1/2 cents a day, less then .06 cents a day, just to be sure there is no misunderstanding...... Ad isn't old if is still drawing posts, and we are still getting new members to sign up as Charter Members....

Coin Finder, good luck on finding more income and better health for your wife . Everyone is having trouble and Congress is making it more difficult with Obama's health care which are gonna cost us more $$$. Metal detecting is FREE. The use of the TNet forum is free for now, but the extra features cost us more. Servers cost money to run and aren't free. Without more sponsors the site can fold at any time and then we'd all go somewhere else where things aren't so nice.

Well, I'm sold and will be Chartered as soon as they verify my new paypal account which they say will take 2-3 days. Seriously, this is one helluva sight! I spend more time reading up on people's finds, detector info, and historical research links than anything else. People are great and extremely helpful to a rookie such as myself. Also, I get my treasure fix from this site during the cold North Dakota winters...record snow last week of 25.1" in less than two days and a record low on saturday of -37F actual temp. Yes, you read that correctly..... 37 degrees below zero! Needless to say, I don't get out much in the winter to hunt so this is my winter haven. IMO, $20/year is a whole lot better than a case of beer and a 2 hour football game.
Happy to pitch in,
HH DB

That is revenue coming in......It is a sign of support of TreasureNet...

Oh...its not an opinion. I am only repeating what Marc has said/posted. I do, however, think it unfair to make doomsayer posts about the forum folding in order to promote CM sales. That's just wrong in anybodies book

This is my first post. I have read all the wit and wisdom and some whining. Some people always complain, I ignore them. As for the value of this site......this is what I have learned. Ever notice that 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of all the fish? It is the same here. The secret to a treasure hunters success is right here in these pages. It could be worth millions, and it truly is. But... only 10% of the people will understand this and another 10% will spend all of their free time trying their best to prove my statement wrong, it is just what they WANT to do! If the web site needs more money, don't waste time trying to talk the others into the loop. We just need to get a bigger audience. I bet if a few of us went on Oprah, to show how America's families could earn a few extra bucks and trinkets, can you imagine the water cooler talk the next day after we showed what we find to America? Millions would sign on to our (this) site, a small percent would become Charter Members. If even 1 half of 1 % of the 30 million joined...... can you imagine? ?/ So who am I, Well, I have and hold a world record in fishing, and I'm also doing really well in the treasure hunting and finding. I'm a 10%er, and I just block out the 40% that make too much negative noise, and I teach anyone else who wants to learn how to be successful at finding lots of gold and platinum. I just can't help but think of all the metal detectors that will be at the Goodwill three months after the Oprah show. Some people just have no patience, and I'll be shopping at the goodwill for my back up units. Julie, Newport Beach California, A real blond gold-digger from the 'OC' (gold-digger not blond)

I think the purpose of the Charter Membership drive is try an prevent Marc from selling his website. I don't think sponsors, servers or other overhead/operating expenses have entered the equation, or the site folding Purpose of the drive is two fold, if possible give Marc cause to possibly think twice about the sale, most of us would perfer Marc remains, but if TN is sold, new owners are more likely to at least listen to the suggestions of a thousand paying charter members... That is revenue coming in...... That's nice of ya'll to do that for Marc......however, the site is not going to fold. That is a bad direction to go when trying to boost paying memberships SWR, your certainly entitled to your opinion as are all, I know we have gotten over 25 new members since starting and still signing up more...Bottom line is to support TreasureNet. Oh...its not an opinion. I am only repeating what Marc has said/posted. I do, however, think it unfair to make doomsayer posts about the forum folding in order to promote CM sales. That's just wrong in anybodies book SWR, I never once said the forum was going to fold, I have no idea where you got that from. I have already posted what the purpose of the membrship drive is you quoted it so I assume you read it. Purpose of the drive is two fold, if possible give Marc cause to possibly think twice about the sale, most of us would perfer Marc remains, but if TN is sold, new owners are more likely to at least listen to the suggestions of a thousand paying charter members... That is revenue coming in......
When Marc was asked by a Charter Member "Sale Is this bad ", his reply was "It could be bad - REAL BAD." Once again just to be sure.......The purpose of the drive is two fold, if possible, give Marc cause to possibly think twice about the sale, most of us would perfer Marc remains, but if TN is sold, new owners are more likely to at least listen to the suggestions of a thousand paying charter members... That is revenue coming in......... It is simple, support the best Treasure Website on the net.............

My apologies SWR, it was hard to tell who you were replying to.........
Sandman does have a point though, there are times when the TN server is overloaded....I have gotten following message many times trying to access the server where it is overloaded...
"An Error Has Occurred! Please try again later. Server unavailable due to high load on the server."
There is maintenance, upgrades, new servers, software programming that is required for websites, all of this costs money....

You have to remember that there are other things happening on the server...besides THIS forum. The servers handle the White's forum, the W&E Treasure Magazine stuff (including Mark Parker's cool stuff) and several other functions. So...there will be periods of overload. As a side note...those other items are income for Marc, as well.

That sound great, yet I do not have payp and I do not have a credit card...I know that sounds strange... Is there anyway I can pay using a money order...or something else...I would love to support this sight...It has been great..But would like another pay option..Thanks
Thanks, Treasure Hunter, for hooking me up with the charter membership...I wanted to be come a member for awhile...yet did not have the pay pal option...

I only found TreasureNet.com a week ago. Spent a couple of days reading a lot of the wonderful content posted here. Then I came across this thread. Felt it was only right to become a Charter Member before my first post. A real bargain, given what I had already learned!
For the past ten years I have made a living off the Internet and know first hand how much time and money it takes to build and maintain a good website. TreasureNet.com is a great website!
Currently, TreasureNet.com is in the top 15,000 web sites in the USA and is ranked in the top 75,000 sites in the world. This is phenomenal when you consider there are millions of web sites in the world. For a site catering to a niche hobby like metal dectecting and other forms of treasure hunting, its really incredible TreasureNet.com has such a high ranking.
Want some comparisons to companies we are all familiar with?
Hooters.com is ranked 21,000+ in USA. FritoLay.com (The potato chip sold everywhere in USA) is ranked 30,000+ in USA. PepsiCo.com is ranked 25,000+ in USA. Coke.com is ranked 17,000+ in USA. (Yes, more people view TreasureNet.com than Coca Cola's home page!) Minelab.com is ranked 29,000+ in USA. WhitesElectronics.com is ranked 100,000+ in USA.
TreasureNet.com leads them all!

I think Charter Membership should be compulsory for those wanting to use T.Net i.e posting. If you do not want to become a Charter Member, then you should be restricted to viewing threads only, and not commenting or asking for advice on them. There are a hell of a lot of knowledgeable people on here who give out free advice everyday this advice alone is worth every penny of a Membership. maintaining this site must be a logistical nightmare for Marc and I'm not supprised he wants to sell we need to get behind him and support more, $ £ I for one would be very sad if this site disappeared, I became a Charter Member as soon as I joined and have been ever since...so come on you none members dig deep and support the best Treasure Hunting website on the Planet Silver Searcher.

Why would someone buy this domain...and then make it disappear? That doesn't make any sense at all.
