jog, in norcal, a fs or blm rec area is open to all rec/pro miners.but withdrawn from mineral entry.that means no private claims.=public mining area.open to all, so not a bad idea. icon_pirat

Wow, I can see that you are quite the optimist...aren't you?  I happen to know that 95% of the private land in the southeast has not been touched since the turn of the century, and they still aren't working it and have no interest in working it either. They dont want anyone panning it, and wont work it themselves either.  Geological estimates have shown that only 20 percent of gold has been mined in Georgia, and the majority of that land is privately owned. The river I am on is club property that has been in our possession for 15 years and its still producing really good gold, as well as the two other properties, the rivers are replenishing themselves with every flood.

I don't know why that with every posted question about gold mining and prospecting, you always have a negative response. What? Are you seriously threatened by people getting in on the action? Why do you insist on hitting everyone with negative responses?  Try being a little more encouraging and helpful, there is plenty enough gold for everyone.

WE WERE TALKN' PUBLIC PROPERTY AND NOT PRIVATE EITHER.  read2 Read the outwest rules and THEN raise kane. After being screwed out of my livlihood by illegal means has put a slight negative spin BUT after 30-50 years of CONSTANT RECREATIONAL USE the public areas OUTWEST are FUBAR-- John   Shocked

Ok, I can see your point and it is a good one. My appologies, I clearly wasn't thinking from a western point of view.

We lost the right to camp on our federal claims this year(7 guys jailed in Oregon just days ago) but the public can camp for up to 30 days. On BLM lands now 15. And in the midst of the SB670 comment(100+ hours) and our loss of dredging rights is MURDER. SOOOOO sorry for the spin but the environutz/injuns have taken all this year from us goldnutz west a the rockies-- help  ---John
