Then we must say good by. Contact Stan Burdett: < se_Burdett@live.com > The history of the area and hunting site: Caldwell was founded in 1871 astride the then new Chisholm Trail as an economic adventure of a group of Wichita entrepreneurs. The trail, running from Texas to the Intercontinental Railroad in northern Kansas, guided over a million longhorn steers and their guardian cowboys through Caldwell. This vintage cow town --- a place of cowboys, saloons, gambling, and violence --- boasted a longer cow town period (1880 - 1885), a higher murder rate, and loss of more law enforcement officers than other more famous cow towns. Being the first town north of Indian Territory, cowboys went wild in this untamed "Border Queen City" after months on the dusty and treacherous trail. Gunfights, showdowns, hangings and general hell raising were commonplace. From these true stories came the romanticized American cowboy and the love of the Wild West. In 1893, Caldwell was also a starting point for the famous Cherokee Strip Land Run, when Oklahoma Territory was opened for homesteaders to stake land claims. Caldwell's riotous past is acknowledged with a life-sized silhouette of a trail cattle drive, historical markers everywhere you turn telling the cow town stories, boot hill cemetery with "Talking Tombstone" re-enactors, and celebrations that bring history to life. Our site is part of the older Chisholm Trail where the cowboys camped till the cattle, were pushed on North. We just recently found out that this was one of the many areas where the 1893 future homesteaders camped while waiting for the land run. Over 10,000 people passed this area. In 1905 a street ran by this area with a home on the corner. Now long gone, just the secrets that are left in the ground remain. The hunt site is on private property. Please treat it as such. The gentleman who owns the property is very pleased to permit the hunt on his place. We feel sure that members will appreciate his courtesy and conduct themselves accordingly. BURDIE

YeeHaw!The CTH thread is up and running! Lala's gussied up in thier finest camo. Master Eagles count down. WD's garter snatching. A hunt with a GREAT group of people. And once again, a good time had by all! Speaking of LaLa's gussied up in camo..Ya'll remember that old pair of lucky holey camo pants? Well...I've since upgraded to a new pair of lucky camo pants and because I love WSD SO much, I thought that we could put them up for auction. The proceeds going for a shiny new snow plow for our beloved WSDaddy. He'd have all that snow cleared up in no time!

Burdie, please clarify - is there one hunt site or two? Under Friday@1-5pm,you say two sites. After that only one is talked about,i.e.last paragraph.Five months to go and we're already confused! This is gonna be another humdinger, for sure. And where's the second meal you talk about?

Anyone who flys into Wichita on Thursday just needs to let me know when to pick you up. You will need to stay at a place to hitch a ride with others to the hunt site. I will also take you back to the airport. They do have rentals if you want more freedom to get around. I will not be able to pick up anyone on Friday or Saturday.
I am getting fired up for everyone to show up. May seems so far away.

I just talked with my cousin Craig and his girlfriend April and as soon as they can get cable they are going to put in my old computer desktop at their house so he can get his hiney on here. He is all wound up about getting started metal detecting with us and says he wants to go to this hunt. We will see if he survives alumni wrestling night at the school on the 13th first though! ROFL

Well considering I found out today that I won't be taking Spring college classes down here after all... I should be in. I'll probably drive up, just to make sure I have all the gear I need. Oh, what a long drive it will be. Bran <><

Cyndi wants me to get involved with some of the posts on this topic, but I have a herd time putting excitement into words. I should be fixed by then. Right now, I go hunt for 4 hours, and it takes me 3 days to recover. BUT IT's WORTH IT!!!!! Can't wait to finally meet all those folks that I have seen and posted with for several years now.

Lil Bro I hardly think your drive will compare to ours! ROFL I am so glad you are gonna be there!! Yeah, you've got about 5 hours on me... it'll probably take you about 26, and myself about 21 hours. I think the only difference is that I'll be by myself (for 21 hours) until I get to Springfield, if Hannah is able to come with me. It's either that, or I "somehow" try to get my needed gear into a suitcase and fly into Springfield, THEN drive to Caldwell in her Jeep. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do yet... Bran <><

I guess there is not that much difference in how far we are travelling then....sure LOOKS a lot farther. Might be a more peaceful drive for you...crank up the praise music and no stops except the ones that you want! lol Sure would have been nicer if Hannah could be with you I am sure though. The important thing is we all gotta get there!!

Just so you all know...the only reason he is saying "it's worth it" is because he has already done his 3 days recovery time since the last time he was out and he wants to go back out tomorrow......had you asked him 2 days ago if it was worth it....his answer was very different! LOL It is real hard for him not to detect every free minute so I am really glad he is going to have his surgery and get fixed soon!!

dear sirs , i am writing to you about pricing and information on your GLUTEUS MAXIMUS line of metal detectors. i saw pictures of your equipment at a professional gathering of treasure hunters in caldwell ,kansas. the BIG CHEEZE model pictured seems a bit large for my stature. i was wondering if ur lab wizards could shrink it any which you could market as the LIL FART . hopefully finds just as much as its daddy.HAS IT BEEN field tested by the swampeast relic recovery team ? i dont know how much extra you charge for custom work.but, i would like a seperate four position LIAR switch for white, small, medium, and large lies. if you would also add some extra lights and nothing switches with alien writing , i would be grateful. this will help me fool all my t net friends into thinking i know a lot about metal detecting. the nuclear warning stickers are also impressive so add plenty of them. i want the extra large ANAL LOG meter. i myself am the inventor of the famous PROCTOPOINTER line of pinpointers .we are currently seeking distributors for our products. i think our products would be compatible.and a profitable business venture for both our companies...
hope to hear from you soon.so dont flatulate, contact me asap. MR S..... PROCTPOINTER INC.

Just saw the announcement Burdie. Wanted to say, "I'M IN"!!! Been looking forward to this for over a year now! And Warsawdaddy, I know you well enough to know that you will be spending a lot of time in the saloon begging for garters! And if you need an Indian to find the prize tokens, I'm your brave! And I want hugs, hugs galore, group hugs, all kinds of hugs from the ladies. Sorry no guy hugs! Homie don't play that. Glad to see some new blood signing up this time. Would love to meet you and looking forward to it so much. Caution, I am a member of the original Wild Bunch and we are a mean crew. M nty
