Posted Jan 19, 2010, 06:50:40 pm

I don't get out much and have never found a ring, but today I had an hour before sundown and decided to head out to a cellar hole. About 100 yards away from the site I decided to hit the trail. Found a few shotgun shells and rifle shell casings. Got a signal that I thought would be more of the same, but much to my surprise out pops this 1968 Loyola High School class ring. It is bent and cracked, but all there.  Got it home, cleaned it up and was able to read the name on the inside(and it is marked 14k). Was able to locate this person's mother in Baltimore and she was thrilled, although she never knew he had lost it! We chatted for awhile and she gave me his number and her mine. He called me back about a half hour later and he was shocked and excited. Turns out that the ring was lost by his high school sweetheart after they had swapped class rings. He said she would put wax inside it so she could wear it. She never really knew where she had lost it. As I told him where I had found it he said their families would go there in the summer in the late 1960's and early 70's. Anyway, I'm shipping it back to its owner tomorrow and I'm sure his wife will be thrilled since she was his high school sweetheart.

Your a good man. I know they were very happy to get the ring back.  Just think about all the memories you brought back for those lucky people. Karma, expect something good to happen for you in the near future. HH.

It was very easy to find the owner as his whole name including his middle initial was there. He was named after his father and his father's phone number was available free on the white pages. I sent the ring back and the delivery confirmation confirms he received it the day after I sent it. That was over a week ago and I have not heard back from him. He is a prominent doctor in Baltimore city and according to his mother a very busy person. I'm sure he was very happy to get his ring back. I post again if there is anyhting to post.
