Several of my hunting buddies from here are meeting me at Anna Maria Island on Saturday. let me know if you would like to join us!!

We'll all meet at the Manatee Public Beach (right at the beach side of Manatee Ave that goes through Bradenton to Anna Maria Island). We'll meet around 2pm at the lifeguard tower there on the beach by the cafe, relax and chit-chat for a bit, hunt the beach, and then enjoy dinner and music at the cafe right there afterwards.
Good food, large portions, and inexpensive!

Hey Sherman! Welcome to T-Net!!!

Well, several of us have been responding with each other on Facebook about this... and this was Deb's suggestion, which I personally think sounds like a great one!

She suggested that we meet at the Manatee Public Beach (right at the beach side of Manatee Ave that goes through Bradenton to Anna Maria Island). We could meet around 2pm, relax and chit-chat for a bit, hunt the beach, and then enjoy dinner and music at the cafe right there.

My friend Ron from Tampa said that he and his two boys are going to plan to join as well.
If you all aren't able to, I definitely understand. I know it's a pretty good drive too... like 2-1/2 hours

Apparently, the fishing pier is no longer there... so I've updated the info section at the top. We'll be meeting by the lifeguard tower on Saturday there on the beach. I also added a Bing Maps link where you can add your own address and print the map out (if you need it)
There's satellite images at the bottom of that post now, so you can get a visual of where we'll be!

Awww.....Deb...I won't be down till May 2nd for 2 weeks I'll be in Longboat I hunt Manatee and Coquina beaches alot when there....I have a time share on Longboat key....Wish I could be there....oh well....I'll just have to keep diggin all our cold gold here at the Jersey Shore...till I can get down there and "thaw out".... ...HH...Brian

Ah, cool! The pier I grew up fishing on was the 1,000 ft pier out at Fort deSoto... definitely good memories and some awesome fishing stories, so I can only imagine yours! Yep, this is definitely a great place to live. Be careful... she may never wanna leave!!

I won't be able to make it, but I wanted to say this type of hunt would probably make a good fall or winter alternate for the spring CTH hunts.  

I'm a good deal farther than 5 hrs, but if I'd had a weeks notice (just saw it today) and had not just finished 3700 miles in fifteen days, I'd be very interested in such a hunt.  

Be blessed and find some really good stuff!   Keep us posted here as well, please.

I hear ya' Bill! I know it doesn't seem like it, but this has been somewhat of a last-minute hunt that Deb came up with over this past week. Deb DID mention months ago about all of us getting together again like her, Steve and myself did last Summer... but as far as inviting lots of people, it was sort of a random tip-of-the-hat thing. I'm sure if we had known so many people would have liked to come along, we would've started making plans a while back!! lol

But I agree... maybe we can plan a formal hunt at some point during the Fall or Winter (depending on how cold it is down here).
It sounds like a fun idea, so maybe something will come of it at some point if enough people want to meet up.
I know I'm always happy to meet & hunt with other T-Net members....

I know, I had REALLY hoped to be able to make the FL Hunt... but because of my full time college schedule, there was just no way.

Well, just as an update... we all met together today and had a wonderful time hanging out, detecting, then having a great dinner at the café there on the beach over sunset!

Any finds besides good food, good friends, and beautiful sunsets?  I was tempted to make the haul over there, but I have 40+ miles of beach in my home county.  Next time, perhaps...

We got there after 2:30pm because of the heavy traffic going across to the island. Took about an hour to get from Bradenton to Manatee Beach, and then parking was ridiculous. We walked around for a long time but didn't see Bran, so sorry we missed everyone. It was just soooo crowded tho it's not surprising. Maybe next time I'll know what to expect with traffic, parking and crowds and all....... or I'll get Bran's phone number.........         -Jim

Jim, I'm really sorry man!!! I realized on my way over that the only thing I neglected to do, was to give out my cell phone number for everyone to contact me if they need to. I won't make that mistake again. I believe the reason we missed each other is because we were all sitting almost directly in front of the lifeguard tower, just chatting and such for about an hour or more before we all headed off to detect for a while. I don't think any of us anticipated the traffic and parking to be "that" bad... but we'll try to plan around that kind of stuff next time. I'm thinking of maybe another get-together this Summer maybe?
