i was trying out the eclipse 5.3 coil on my White's v3 and i have found alot of coins in the past 2 days, but i am confused i have been using the standard coin pro and every time i would get with in 3-4 feet of a steel drum (park garbage can) or bleachers the VDI would keep saying +79-89 and regester as a quarter am i doing something wrong or is it just normal? thank you

Detector used Detector(s) Used - I have used several different models from the 5 major brands but now use a Whites MXT with D2 DD coil

What you need to do is turn the sensitivity (gain) down as low as possible or you can lock in your ground tracking after it is ground balanced to get close to those garbage cans, bleachers etc. One thing that is going on is your detector is trying real hard to cancel out the large metal item your near because you did not balance your machine next to it. You may even want to balance your detector right near the large metal item and then lock your tracking in before you start searching. The same thing probably happens when you turn your detector on near your car. It is not going to act right because it is seeing the metal and it is trying to adjust and cancel it out and it cannot so it is unstable and giving a quarter type of reading or maybe even overload. After you try balancing it near the trash cans, or even next to a bob wire fence row you should be able to crank up your gain again after you have locked in your ground tracking, Tim
