It's not a "Today's find" but, the thank you letter we got from the Sargent of our local police department came today. I dug the badge while searching a wooded lot in our home town last fall. After digging the badge I brought it home, photographed it, and took a handful of kids who were here for a summer retreat to return it. And to show by example it would be be the right thing to do.
I received a phone call from our friends downtown who told me the badge was from the 1930's.
It came out of a 6 inch plug practically looking like it does in the photograph.

Now that's a sweet badge and I bet it will go into some kind of historical showcase at the local department. Job well done and a fantastic find for sure. I wonder if the man is still alive Huh

There ya go brother!!

And just because someone is a cop doesn't mean they know what they are talking about.
I say this because that badge is NOT from the 1930s..

It is from the late 1960s at LATEST, more likely 1975 or newer...

Sweet find and return..
Ha!  I wouldn't doubt that my friend..
It just looked to nice to be that old you know?

Nice badge and good job returning it!  Since there is no number on it, guess they probably don't know who lost it.  Would be interesting to hear how it was lost.  Congrats and HH, Mike

I believe that's a Blackington made badge.  They might be able to guess at the age.
