Hi all, i have decided to show how i find my sites and where they are. Why because i think nothing left to dig in this location. Windmill hill, have done quite a lot of posts on TN over 7 years. The site was once a hard rock mine fittingly called Windmill Hill Quartz Mining Coy. Late in the afternoon it blows quite hard to almost gale wind . Thats how the location got its name.

History   Gold was discovered in 1852 by an Irishman and the saddle Quartz reef which surfaces on the top of the hill is "The Paddy's Reef"  First there was small claims these joined in partnership to form a Mining Company. 6 shafts were sunk to 600 feet and went to 3000 feet over the next 80 years. Why saddle quartz reefs repeat at depth. Mined between 1852-1934. From a old mine pic taken 1880 and then a local Sun news paper i found a pic of what remained the poppet head. The site today and the find and the drive and the local area . The hill sits 5 minutes from the centre of town and 5 minutes from home. I don,t think anyone has ever been this open before. Todays find are no much but i found quite a bit of small gold on this hill over the years.  Enjoy the ride The weather was a bit wet to start but what i think is so funny .The fact that locals fill their car with gas while just above them on the hill i,m filling my pockets with finds. Un-noticed and never bothered by anyone. Ask the locals, they will tell if there was still gold on the hill it would still be mined.  laughing7 laughing7 More like to junky and they couldn,t be bothered Thats the truth.

It's strange that folks will drive 100s of miles to see something neat and
yet will not go 5 minutes out of their way to see something they live right
next to. I am guilty of this also...it is sad but true. Thanks Tinpan for the
pictures and the story.     Gold Nuggets  hello

If Gold is where you find it, I need to look somewhere else.....
