OK, Well normally I don't post my finds but I always admire everyone Else's. You guys are great! Today I can't NOT post my latest AND GREATEST find TO DATE. This story will no doubt strike up some envy but hopefully will encourage all of you guys that there is still a ton of silver out there to be found.

This past Friday, I decided to go on a little road trip to a little town for some coin roll hunting. I had called ahead to a few banks and some of them gave me some hope that I would make some good finds. I really had no clue though how the day would turn out. One bank I had called said they had 200 dollars in rolled half dollars and I said that I would be by later to pick them up. I stopped several times along the way at various banks with moderate success. I had found a couple 90% and few 40%ers. I was totally caught off guard by what happened next. I stopped into the bank that had the 200 dollars in halves reserved for me. The teller lady then said she did not have 200 but 390 dollars worth. At such large numbers I was expecting someones dumps, so I was doubtfull about the coins. Not wanting to spend all my coin money on someones marked up dumps I asked a few questions. I asked if these were rolls they had accumulated over time or dropped off by one individual? She said that they had been dropped of by one man. Right then, I was thinking definitely someones dumps. I was thinking it over and about to say that I would not be able to buy them when she opens up a roll and says "THESE ARE SILVER."  Believe it or not I was still sceptical because I can't count the amount of times these tellers tell me they have silver coins and they really are not. I ask her what the dates say and she replies 67', 68'. There was no more hesitation on my part and I bought all the halves that she had. What I found when I got to the car was almost to stop my heart. Walker after Ben after 64 laced with plenty of uncerculated 40%ers. 99% of all the coins I bought there were silver!!!! So I send this message overjoyed at my find and full of pictures as well as the final tallies. Enjoy and happy hunting y'all.

LJ, An answer to your questions. The feeling was unbelievable opening silver after silver roll. You are almost in a state of unbelief. Once it sank in what I had found, I just admired the over flowing from my box in the front seat. What i could not get over is that most of the kennedies, even the 64's were in pristine uncerculated condition. Even the Walkers and Bens were in Extra fine shape for the most part.

Another answer to your question LJ is yes, I am ready to go again. I go on these trips often and I do my research. I always have planned route of attack and 80% of the time it turns out great for me. I have found small collections before but nothing of this size. But I have also only been doing this for 2 months. I have already accumulated over $7,000 worth of silver. And what is even better is that I have only spent a small fraction of that to aquire it all.

I am thankful for all the replies and can't wait to hear what the rest of y'all think.

It sounds like you planned your route well....very well!!  WTG.

Yes, that is the beauty of this hobby.....acquiring these coins at face value.....don't you just love it!!  You have done extremely well in a short time.

You have inspired me to take a road trip GS.......ha!

I plan on checking every week to see if the same guy brought any more in. I asked for the large dollars but at the time they had none. The funny thing is, is that the two banks on the same road right before this bank had guys that regularly pick up halves and drop them off. I glad they did not think to go to this one. hahaha.

Thanks yall, for your great responses to my find. To those who metal detect I am also one of you guys. Although lately since this find I have been doing just the roll hunting. Can you blame me? Eventually I will go back to detecting because I love not knowing what you will dig up and their will always be a treasure that lies hidden under the soil or sand. Unfortunately sooner or later I will exhaust the banks that are within a days reach of me and I will have to rest. Until then I will continue my search for more. CRH is not for everyone as it takes a lot of patience and sometimes some long trips and plenty of gas to find the good stuff but I always come back with some silver in the pockets. This just shows you that treasure can be just around the corner and that big find that will never happen to you most certainly will eventually. Keep hunting guys and gals. Good Luck!

That's what happened to me. Devout MDer for 3 years, discovered CRHing and didn't pick up my XLT for one year. About 5 weeks ago started MDing again and still CRHing. First time out again and found a Merc dime, but compare that with last weekends bank finds of 12 silver halves and you know why I didn't MD for a year.

Wow, If we had a CRH banner you'd be there too.

I seriously think one needs to be started, there are plenty of CRH members on here to warrant a new banner section for awesome CRH finds like this one.

Way to go man!  I am normally a gold man, but silver coins in that amount really make me want to follow in your footsteps! You certainly have the right plan in action and it is paying you well, keep it up!

Capn crunch, I thank you for your kind words. I was fortunate to make the banner with this find. Most Coin roll hunters would enjoy the honor but in a quiet way don't want their finds displayed like that for fear that too many would believe that that is the way it is all the time in CRHing. Too many could flood the hobbie and what finds we do get would dissapear. As for my option to pursue silver. It is the poor man's gold and I can afford to accumulate it. Maybe one day I will graduate to gold but for now this sutes me. I most of my gold in the ground anyway. Thanks for lookin.

Oh my.  I was a teller for 7 years and never thought to look for coin like that.  That's awesome.

It's hard to believe that the bankteller would knowingly sell you those halves, and telling you they were silver!
That almost like a bank robery, you shure your initials aren't J.J.? actually you did better than J.J. you didn't even use a gun!
Just paid cash. Great story, I'm sure your right about the envy, I'm starting to feel a little myself.
Keep it up hello2
