Beep! Beep ! I gotta' go tectin' !

Dixon, Illinois

« on: July 28, 2009, 09:54:08 PM »

Hey Folks. Guess where I went today? Grin Yep, back to grand dad's farm. I heard the oldies calling out to me. Weird Anyhow, I decided to change out my 4 X 6 DD to the 6 X 10 DD on my DFX. I also headed out into an open area away from the house. I got some old scrap iron and three harness rings today. I gave all the harness ring stuff to the owner. He likes them old plow harness rings. Thumbs Up I got a nice VDI for an Indian Head penny and cut a generous plug. Sure enough out popped a nice old Indian Head, 1879. Pirate I let out a loud WOO HOO and did a Happy Dance to consummate the occasion. Cool The owner showed up shortly after I found the Indian and I showed him my finds. I offer him anything he wants but, let him know that I am mainly after the old coins. We headed into town to grab some grub and a few cervazas. While we were at the pub my "buddy" tells me that we are sitting next to one of the original two "pirates" that detected my grand dad's farm. I introduced myself and then promptly let him know that he didn't GET IT ALL!!! Grin He was a nice guy and we all had a good laugh. After hearing of the stuff that he and his then older partner hauled off it sounds like I missed one heck of a great place to hunt. More than a few silver dollars and who knows what else. He was just a kid when he hunted it. He probably spent them Morgans on candy bars! Laugh We headed out to another spot that had a home on it built in the 1840's. Really nice looking patch of ground with a few trees still dotting the area. I got one of the three old harness rings there, the cool old car button-about 8 inches deep, and a 1941 D Wheat penny. I got some other stuff but, too late to post it all tonight. Thanks for the encouragement. I know there's more good stuff around these spots. I am landing a few other places in the area to hunt too. This is getting quite interesting. I am having a blast tecting my old stomping grounds of the 60's. Thanks for viewing.

Kevin  Hello

Congrats on the Injun ....  Thumbs Up  Keep in mind that with DFX you are "huntin' in a different patch of dirt" then the guys who hunted the place years ago.  You are most likely lookin' deeper than they were - so there's probably a few goodies waitin' for you too !!!  Good luck and good hunting !!!   Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
